not the only one...
Woah. Brain is fried today! Sorry giuys I was wrong - must be Friday 13th
Thanks Dave, Understand now
With the extra letter, are you talking about the 2011 redemptions. If so, I think that this may be because there are 35 in that set, so first 26 are lettered XRCA to XRCZ and then number 27 is XRCAA, 28 is XRCAB and so on up to pick 35. As opposed to 2012 redemptions which only have 25 in set, so obviously lettering was not a drama with 2012. Not sure why they only went with 25, why not just do whole 1st round of 30?
That is the first time i have heard anyone mention that anywhere actually.
i was wondering myself what it meant exactly. and how it would affect the total randomness of the draw.
Just quoted all of you guys as I thought you may be interested to hear how I have had this all explained when I went looking for the answers! lol
Most of the correct info has been posted above, in bits and pieces, but I will just post again to make it easier!
The 2012 redemptions are NOT autographs. These are simply numbered as to the actual draft order, so, like Andrew did, you can now work out which player you are getting. These cards will be considered 'XRC's', and not 'RC's', because they are not pack pulled, and they are ALL redemptions. The first 'true' rc's will be in the Prestige and Hoops releases!
The 2011 redemptions ARE autos, and are noted as having a letter reference and are ALL noted as card number '0'. The reason they go up to 'double letters - ie: AA,AB etc, is exactly what Richard said, there are more rookies than letters in the alphabet.
As far as the 'method' to draw the players/numbers, Tracy Hackler specifically said that there will be NO POSSIBLE WAY to know which card will represent which player. Implying that it will be a very random process with no real methods to it. They will be holding the draw on the 29th October.
The dual auto rumours.... from what I have heard, they are just that... rumours. From the people I have spoken to and all that I have read, they have never confirmed that there will be dual autos in the products that are using this redemption process, so maybe there will be in the Prestige or Hoops etc!
And.... the 24pt vs 40pt thing..... Originally Panini did say that these redemptions would be the same cards that would be inserted into the 3 products - P&P, Limited and Gold. However, the idea of opening a $200 box and pulling a redemption card that you can commonly pull from a $90 box did upset a lot of people. I believe they have now confirmed that the redemptions from each release will be different now. So the P&P ones are noted as 24pt, while the Limited ones are noted as 40pt due to them making their higher end cards thicker like they have previously!
