Panini NBA Rights

Gold Standard -
Possibly the worst release as far as autos (because most are cut off).
But possibly the best base/insert/RC set from them so far IMO

Hence my doing the set chase of all base/inserts/RC auto's

I don't think Panini have done a bad job at all!

They cater for all ranges of collectors, they try different things, the try innovative things.

They have been fighting criticism from day one because people were dirty on them straight away for getting the sole rights. IMO, most of the reasons people say they don't like Panini also apply to certain releases from the other companies too!!

Actually when they first came in I was one of the people telling the "haters" to give them a go and see what they come out with before hating on them; but as you now probably know I DO give them a lot of deserved criticism.

No.......?? You.....?? Criticise Panini???????

I don't believe it

The last thing panini have done is try and be innovative!!! Past the HRX cards they have done nothing new at all!! Only tweaked what others have domes in the past!

Some of there gear is okay i guess but concidering...no jordan or lebron !!
To expensive....so they flood there products kobe autos...almost worthless now !!

Personally I HATE the trapped Autos. As much as I dont really endorse sticker Autos either, I'd prefer them over trapped, that's the worst part about gold standard and elite black box. Especially elite when you got a black card, but a white area for the auto that looks so clumsy.

I have found Panini redemptions to be quite quick (only redeemed 10 cards) but upper deck have not sent my 2 redemption cards (a tony parker auto and a lebron auto) and its been 1.5 years now.

My only real dislike of panini is their quality control: too many dinged/worn corners and cut off autos (whether the sticker auto goes over the edge of the sticker or the windo cuts of the auto).

Apart from that, I just miss the topps chrome series.

This is what I meant by rose tinted glasses it's just my opinion but if I recall Ud had some pretty cheap looking sets too.

Yeh but say UD Black and Panini Elite Black, Exquisite and National Treasures, Premier and Timeless Treasures.

The more expensive products from UD had the more expensive feel unlike Panini's 'high-end' products which still use a whole lot of sticker autos, manufactured patches, 'god-forbid' manufactured logomen and no-name players. I think Exquisite and Premier had 0 sticker autos. Not saying that everything in these products were trash, I'll say the RPAs are pretty sweet, but the majority. And I think this is reflected in the fact that the price of Elite Black got hammered so hard soon after its release.

I am new to the site but thought I would put my 2 bobs worth in.........

Panini, early on came out with some really, really crap cards, like there Panini Base, playoff contenders and mostly Sticker Autos etc., but....as of late, Gold Standard, NT, Certified they have really picked their game up. I am not sure what is happening with this seasons realeases 11/12, but it is good to see that they have not just realeased a whole lot of crap to make $$$. Value of cards have creaped up since no UD, Topps, which is a good thing for the hobby I reckon (not to mention their is some great placyers that have come out in the past few years - Griffin, Durant, Rose). Not sure, but your comments on this are welcome :) and if anyone can give me a heads up when Panini new realeases are out that would be great

PS: The Panini website is crap though:goat: (Not sure why I put the goat there, but he looked cool)

i dont like panini but its beside the point. multiple companies breeds competition to excel. something panini havent had lately, leading to complacency. i dont care who else gets some rights (prefer UD) just as long as someone does...
