The sixers are not going to give up mcw for Nash, this is a laker dream up trade, I mean a r.o.y for washed up injury prone Nash, as they say in the classic movie "the castle" " tell him he's dreaming"
I think Exum will be a much better player than MCW. If he was drafted this year I can't see him even going until pick 15ish. Having pick 7 & 10 would mean they would upgrade the PG, draft Randle @ 7 (future PF?) and then maybe a shooter like McDermott @ 10. A very young team, but with a very high ceiling. For the Lakers, they obviously want to win now while they still have Kobe and the Young deal brings youth and athleticism to a side that really didn't have it previously. The Lakers aren't even in Love's top 5 probable locations right now so they need to make some moves prior to that.
Just watched Jalen Rose & Bill Simmons mock draft over on grantland
Projections:
1. CLE, C - Embiid - yes despite the injury
2. MIL, SF - Parker - bucks need a sure thing
3. PHI, SF - Wiggins
4. ORL, PG - Exum
5. UTA, SG - Gary Harris - Watch for Utah to trade down
6. BOS, PF - Randle
7. LAL, PF - Vonleh
8. SAC, PF - Saric
9. CHA, PF - Gordon
10. PHI, PG - Payton
11. DEN, SG - Stouskas
12. ORL, PF - Payne
13. MIN, SF/PF - McDermott
14. PHX, SF - James Young
Other interesting notes:
- They compared Exum to a Larry Hughes clone (averaged 16-22ppg for 6 straight years).
- Simmons had Wiggins & Embiid flipped the other way. Parker stays at MIL.
- Orlando drafts Exum due to Oladipo's ability to guard the PG, but shouldn't take ball handling duties. Exum can take ball handling while guarding the SG. A unique fit.
- Tyronne Corbin was named the leagues worst coach and by adding shooters the hope is that it gives Favors / Kanter a bigger role.
- Simmons had Randle in LA, and wanted gordon for BOS. LAL won't take a PG due to wanting to find stability not named Sacre at C (Bynum, Howard and Gasol in three seasons all likely gone)
- Saric would fill a need at PF to spread the floor around Boogie. The kings were the only team to have 3 starters average 20+ppg last season
- Denver is likely going to recieve Afflalo back from Orlando.
- If the Warriors ship Klay Thompson to MIN, drafting McDermott would give the wolves some very good shooters for Rubio to play with.
So you trade a rookie with a boat load upside to create space, uumm the sixers where so crap last year , I'd trade anyone of the other 14 on the roster to make space, mcw and exam can play together if they take that road, and even if they did trade him tho, to the lakers for Nash?? Really I mean is the trade market that bad for a young up and coming player? Hell the bulls have or had Nazr Mohammed, do a sign and trade bulls if the sixers are so keen to make space. A sign and tradeI think the trade is more about creating a roster space for Exum, who they are very big on. Exum has shown he needs the ball in his hands to be effective, and he cannot do that with MCW at point. Exum's ceiling is so much higher than MCW's. Just because he's won ROY won't mean he's the next D-Rose. He's likened more to be of a Tyreke Evans, another "ROY". On a team as bad as the sixers someone had to have those stats.
Gary Harris? You mean Marcus Smart right...?
Take about an over hyped draft, this draft is to me two deep, Parker and wiggins, the big mans injury concerns worry me, and as for the rest, their will be a star in their but who ??? They won't all be, it's a very hit and miss after because the rest have so much more developing to do, and they never all work out, I'd take a proven roty with upside over a maybe any dayI think Exum will be a much better player than MCW. If he was drafted this year I can't see him even going until pick 15ish. Having pick 7 & 10 would mean they would upgrade the PG, draft Randle @ 7 (future PF?) and then maybe a shooter like McDermott @ 10. A very young team, but with a very high ceiling. Nope. Garry Harris was their pick and to trade down to get it.
Word going round this morning is that the Sixers & Lakers have two deals in discussion centered around the Lakers pick 7 & Thad Young
Option 1
Lakers get: Thad Young, Pick 10
Sixers get: Steve Nash, Pick 7
Option 2:
Lakers get: Thad Young, MCW, (and possibly a very late second rounder)
Sixers get: Steve Nash, Pick 7
Option 2 is rumored to be preferred by the sixers so that they have roster space to draft Exum at pick 3
