Official 2013-14 NBA Regular Season Thread - SPOILERS!

The Timberwolves, like the Jazz, have shown interest at one point or another in Bulls point guard Marquis Teague, a league source tells K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune. Johnson doesn’t make it sound as though the Wolves are currently pursuing Teague, but if the Bulls aren’t sold on him, that bodes well for the chances that 38-year-old point guard Mike James makes Chicago’s opening night roster on his non-guaranteed deal. Brandon Jennings must be immobilized for three weeks as part of treatment for the Detroit Pistons point guard's impacted wisdom tooth and hairline jaw fracture, the team announced today. A three-week immobilization before Jennings is reevaluated means he will miss at least four regular-season games. That leaves the Pistons particularly shorthanded in the backcourt, with Rodney Stuckey already sidelined with a broken right thumb which he said today could keep him out three to four weeks. Oden, a talented yet oft-injured center who has not played an NBA game since Dec. 9, 2009, was acquired by the Heat as a free agent on Aug. 7, signing a one-year contract. He has yet to play an exhibition game this preseason, but he did scrimmage with Miami on Monday, going up against the MVP, LeBron James. “He scored on me twice, and I made him miss once,” Oden said of James. “He got the upper hand [Monday], but it felt good to be out there. “I’m a little frustrated with myself because I’m not as back as I want to be, but it’s little steps. [Monday] was another step doing a five-on-five [scrimmage].” Miami Herald

James said it would have been “very tough” for him to go four years without being healthy enough to play basketball, which is what Oden, 25, has endured since 2009. “For him to be able to stick with it and be here today is a testament to him and his family believing in him,” James said. “He’s back where he belongs, and that’s in the NBA.” Miami Herald

On a day when Joakim Noah said he would make his preseason debut and Derrick Rose is expected to return from sitting one game with left knee soreness, Jimmy Butler is a game-time decision with an unspecified leg injury. Butler could be seen limping through a first-half stretch of Saturday's preseason victory over the Wizards in Brazil. But he played through the pain and said afterward he felt fine. Chicago Tribune

Just when it looked like the Trail Blazers were finally moving past their early-season injury woes, the team was dealt another sobering, if not serious, injury worry. LaMarcus Aldridge skipped the Blazers’ Thursday practice to have his left knee examined, and his status for Friday’s exhibition game against the Los Angeles Clippers is up in the air. The two-time All-Star and franchise cornerstone encountered knee pain during Wednesday night’s exhibition win at Utah, and the pain lingered enough to prompt a visit to the doctor. Beyond that, the Blazers did not have many details to offer about the injury. “That’s all I’ve got,” coach Terry Stotts said. “He experienced pain last night. He’s just being evaluated.” Oregonian
