The Wizards have agreed to terms with veteran big man Drew Gooden on a 10-day contract, according to two sources with knowledge of the situation. Gooden is expected to arrive in Washington on Tuesday night and will sign a contract before practicing with the team at Verizon Center. It was strange to read that I have to admit, but after looking a little further into the inner workings behind this, the Hawks need big men bad. When the Hawks acquired Cunningham at the beginning of the season, I knew it wasn't going to be good for him, as the Hawks are quite deep at guard.
With Millsap out and Elton Brand having to basically carry the big man load, something had to give. Schroeder was never going to go so Cunningham was called back from the D League and then waived, which has got to suck for a guy who has been assigned to the D League and then brought back to the Hawks 4 times this season, and only being in a Hawks uniform for 5 games I think.
As for another team, who knows. I would hope some team needs an energetic back up guard to place behind there aging star guard, someone that could mold him. And this comes just as Panini released its first and only card of the 2013-14 season of Cunningham in Gold Standard.
Eep. 0-3 with Westbrook back in the lineup so far for OKC. I can understand losses to Miami and Clips but to the Cavs? They need to turn this thing around soon, otherwise they're in danger of falling down the playoff ladder with the other teams gaining momentum.
