Clippers eyeing Lamar Odom???
http://espn.go.com/dallas/nba/story...gaged-dallas-mavericks-trade-talks-lamar-odom
The Los Angeles Clippers have engaged in trade discussions to bring Lamar Odom back to the L.A. team that drafted him, according to sources close to the situation.
Yet the deal, sources said, could hinge on the willingness of a third team to take on the contract of Clippers veteran guard Mo Williams, which would allow the Dallas Mavericks to send Odom to the Clippers with no significant money coming back to the Mavericks.
With a Friday deadline looming for the Mavericks to buy out the final year of Odom's contract for $2.4 million, Dallas officials have green-lighted Odom's agent, Jeff Schwartz, to try to find a new home for Odom this week via trade. The Mavericks and Schwartz also have discussed pushing the deadline back into July if an Odom trade can't be struck before Friday.
The Mavericks' interest in an Odom deal, though, is purely to gain financial flexibility, which likely necessitates a third team to take on Williams. If no trade can be struck, either this week or before an adjusted deadline, Dallas is expected to eventually buy Odom out and make him a free agent, with big-market teams such as Miami and New York also planning to pursue him in that scenario.
Although Williams is a former All-Star and still a valuable contributor at 29, Dallas has little need for him given its long-planned pursuits of marquee free agents Deron Williams andSteve Nash and its oft-stated desire to bring back championship-winning point guard Jason Kidd when free agency starts at 12:01 a.m. Sunday.

I'm guessing that the Mavs are simply dumping LO's contract, rather than looking for a return. I wonder if the Mavs could have targeted Nick Young from the Clips, they have shown interest in him before.

Yeah?? Wizards trying to secure a massive front-court with Okie Doke!

Pretty sure the Lakers would jump at that, yeah? #3 pick, and Ariza alone would be worth Gasol, IMO. Ron Ron is a nut case, he'll never change, and just brings poison to a side.

Ben Gordon and a (protected) 2013 pick to Charlotte for Maggette (expiring contract)

Gordon owed $25.6M over next 2 years. Maggette has one year left at 10.9M - net savings to Pistons of $14.7M

Gordon will def provide the Cats with some scoring power, should be a starter there

Jared Sullinger is interesting at the moment, he was red flagged due to back injuries and could slip to a second round pick,
read pistons could look to trade for him during draft day and miami are looking at possibly getting him!

I like that the Pistons have moved Gordon. I still think he can produce, although he seems to be going to worse and worse teams. Fat pay cheques are'nt all they're cracked up to be.

If the Lakers did make that move, it can only mean one thing, theyll make another. Blatche is not going to be enough for them. They'll go for another big for sure.

I feel for Dallas, I really like Odom as a player, but if they have to pay him out, he should give them that money back to them and then sign with someone.

It's been very active so far this FA. Hopefully it continues:) loving it.

I understand that the Mavs were going to buy out Odom, but why not package him + kicker send them to another team for something, player or pick, don't do it JUST to shave $ You might as well buy Odom out, and let him go to Miami, don't send him to your opposition in LA!!

The scary thing is I could see Odom going to Miami and enjoying it. He's played with Wade before there and they could use someone that can do everything and especially help out on the boards.

Denver has said they will not pass on him at 20 if he falls that low and sources in the Orlando camp have said they wont pass on him if he falls to 19.

I reckon he'll still go 14-15-16 ish

I hope they don't. I would think Stern would just hand Lebron his 2nd ring as soon as they signed. What a team that would be.

I'm not sure where I hope Ray goes. I'd say the Knicks but I just can't see it working too well there. Dallas may try as a replacement if Terry leaves.

I'm not surprised that story came out about Rondo and Ray not getting along. I don't think Ray gets enough good looks with the C's. So I doubt he'll resign with them.

The Clippers does make sense. Plenty of mins for him there even off the bench.

Interesting times ahead.

Agree with Matt, Sully won't fall to MIAMI thats way to far down the draft even with the Back Problem

He'll definitely be a 1st round pick

Teams like Orlando, Denver, Boston, Phili and some others are really interested in him.

I hope hope hope Ray Allen doesn't come anywhere near NY. Would love to see Odom become a Knick though. Doesn't his wife do a lot of stuff in NY?

Really, why? I can see him in a Knicks jersey, I just don't think it will work for them. The problem there is Melo.

But a starting 5 of Lin (or Nash), Ray, Melo, Amare, Chandler. Sheesh, if they got Nash I'd say the Heat have themselves a challenge. Fill the bench with some guys that are hard nosed defenders and they'll be looking tough.
