United building up their english reserves too if the 6-5 rule comes into place. City will be sweet with Hart, Richards, Barry, Milner etc. Liverpool and Arse will be stuffed on current viewing and Chelsea creaking at the knees relying on Terry, Lampard, Cole and ...........will be good to see English youngsters coming thru if they put that rule in. Liverpool are already playing a few actually....

been hearing about this rule for a couple of years now. could very well ruin the epl.
young is a good buy tho i think. under-rated. could shine. and not that expensive...

Worried about the rule if they end up introducing it. Some of the quality will be lost and as you say, Chelsea are absolutely screwed as half there squad are French!

dont united have just as many frenchman? unless your counting drogba and kalou? anyway, its bad news if they ever decide to implement it. definatley lose quality i think...
you werent to keen on young were you warney? i think he could do better than valencia tho? or personally, i think hes more useful as an attacking midfielder.
falcao to follow AVB to london? looks like it.
and pele tells messi he needs to score more than him to become 'the best'. i think thats a crock. most goals dont = best player. plus his 'record' cant even be confirmed. also, i think maradona was better anyway.

Firstly, Pele is a douche - amazing player but no one blows his own trumpet more than him. And Messi is NOT better than him - he's done nothing internationally.

Secondly - interesting to see United spending so much - wonder whether all the mugs who bagged city's spending (and I'm not meaning anyone here) are gonna have a crack at United and the cash they've splashed this year. By the way I'm not wanting to start a count up of $$ over the last 3 years as seems to happen on chat boards around the world when United's spending gets mentioned....they're certainly ahead in the spending stakes ATM...

but in fairness mate, we needed to buy this year didn't we? Especially when you have 3 players retire on you, also to improve the squad.. Expect to see more

Recently saw an article on goal.com and they reckon Sir Alex may make a formation change next season, maybe to a 4-3-1-2 or 4-3-2-1.. Wouldn't be too surprised if he stayed with the 4-4-2 though, but in saying that they could play one defensive midfield and thats where Jones can drop in..

No doubt Warney - I'm just saying the bums who crap on about us buying trophies etc and neglect to remember how much Rio, Rooney, Berbatov etc cost United need to be taking it all in...

Also a question for u and I mean this in all seriousness. IMO City were too strong for United in their last 2 games. In the first meeting at the COMS, City were like deer in the headlights and a 0-0 result was poor on City's behalf. United could have easily have snuck a result and it would have been deserved.
In the OT fixture, United were dominant and lead 1-0, City really started to dominate in the 2nd half and scored a lucky goal with Silva's arse!, Then Rooney scored the wonder goal. I kinda felt this painted over how well City had played and dominated possession in the 2nd half. Then onto the Cup semi where once again United dominated the first 30 minutes, then City took over possession and deserved the victory.
Do u think City are physically too big and strong and United need to get stronger? Their battles seem to be a battle of City's midfield strength vs United's speed out wide (vs our lack of speed defensively out wide!), and City eventually wear them down........

Yes i'd agree with that.

Let's be honest, your centres are tanks, especially if Yaya and Silva are playing together.. We lack that, Carrick was mediocre for most of the season, Fletch was injury plagued and Scholes was hot and cold, so in saying that 9 times out of 10 any team with good centres would have smashed us through the middle last year. We lack a World Class CM, Scholes is great but obviously his age started to restrict him.

I believe that one of our strengths are out wide as you say. Nani and Valencia are a good combination, Nani is a bit slack yes but he stills works hard in attack and pulls off some decent crosses and can score goals, and i think it was Rooney that said Valencia crosses a lot more than Ronaldo did, he was an excellent pick-up and played well since coming back from injury. Then behind them Rafael and Evra. Evra would be one of the quickest players in the Premier League and is always up the ground when we are attacking. Rafael has a few things to learn but he has done well, defensively he is awesome but would like to see him attacking a little more and gain strength.

In the City games we were completely outplayed IMO. I think our confidence was down and Yaya destroyed us in the FA Cup Semi, we couldn't control him..

I think the new additions could work well at United, but sure hope that Jones isn't a bench player at 16 million! Wouldn't be too surprised if Rio hangs up the boots next season.

Yeah will be interesting to see how Jones goes - I saw a few Blackburn games last year watching Ryan Nelsen. I don't recall Jones at all. Samba definitely, that guy's a beast.
Getting back to the midfield - Fergie hasn't exactly strengthened his midfield at all with his pickups - more strengthened the back and flanks even more? Perhaps he's thinking we won last season as it is so we'll stay strong there and take our medicine if we get beat in the midfield. No new goalie yet either? That bloke De Gea not a dead cert by the looks of it...
City have done nothing....the silence is becoming deafening. Think this means it's more likely every day that Tevez is staying. I think there'll be a lot of our loan players sold in the next 2 weeks, Bellamy, Ade for sure... Sanchez to Barca is looking less likely as Udinese asks for more and more cash - that only really leaves City if they want him.

De Gea hasn't officially signed yet but i'd say that they have agreed to something behind closed doors..

We'll make a big signing soon i think to improve Centre Midfield..

firstly, let me make clear that personally i dont care about the likes of city and chelsea spending big, however there is a difference between their spending and united's. united spend money theyve earned through winning comps and leagues over the last 2 decades and selling players that theyve groomed. city and chelsea spend money that was handed to them from outside influences. thats why people have a go at them. they didnt 'earn' it.
also, dont think anyone was saying messi IS better than pele. its like comparing jordan and lebron. messi still has more than half his career to play. i was just saying even if he doesnt score 1,000 goals, doesnt mean he cant be the greatest.
alvarez to the gunners? where is this big spending wenger said he was going to do?!
and why is there a story about nani being under pressure because of youngs arrival?! ridiculous. im a fan of young, but to think of him as a replacement for nani is a little over the top...

Fair comment but it gets a bit old and contradictory when United fans keep crapping on about their amazing development/academy when they've bought as much success as the next team. That's what gets my goat at times. Sure they had a golden era with Beckham, Scoles, Rat Neville etc but they haven't produced a player of great note outa there own academy in a while and they buy their players just like everyone else

I never saw any comment u made about Messi - was just commenting on what Pele has said. The more Pele opens his mouth, the older and worse he looks. Having said that, he won 3 world cups and scored truckloads in each of them. Messi's been all-world on the club scene and done nothing internationally.

/\/\ depends what you call home-grown. most of those players played for a different youth teams before they were signed by united.
and personally, i was sticking up for united (pretty rare) in saying that they deserved to spend big on players, unlike chelski and city...
we were saying they havent produced an OUTSTANDING player in a while. i wouldnt consider any of the recent players on that list 'outstanding'.
last time you accused me of saying fergie makes dumb buys, which i never said. maybe you should read what we write instead of automatically sticking up for united. theyre not perfect...
