Dragons prop Trent Merrin has re-signed with St George Illawarra for the next three seasons.
In a major boost for coach Steve Price, Merrin told the Mercury he was always determined to stay at the club in his bid for a second NRL premiership
‘‘I’m just happy to get the contract stuff out of the way,’’ he said.
‘‘Now I can just worry about playing footy and doing my best for the Dragons.’’
The 22-year-old came off the bench in the 2010 grand final victory over the Roosters.
But it was last year where Merrin announced himself as one of the star forwards of the NRL competition, earning a NSW State of Origin jersey.
He signalled 2012 to be an even bigger year, after running for 183m, 33 tackles and 25 runs in 52 minutes of game time in the 15-14 victory over Newcastle in round one.
It's a few days old but haven't yet seen it on the boards but the Dogs have signed a 3rd player for 2012
The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs have signed Wests Tigers utility back Mitch Brown to a one year deal covering the remainder of the 2012 National Rugby League season.
Brown joins the Bulldogs this week after being granted an immediate release by his former Club.
That's way too much for him, good player etc, but geez big money
Now they're after Cameron King, those who know about up and coming players would know big things are expected for him, would be a massive loss for us...
