certainly did....Pretty sure his exit from Rugby had something to do with "extra marital activities" as well....
We have an unfair advantage over the other 15 clubs because our players are able to get massive dollars in 3rd party endorsements that don't come under the cap. A player like Smith could make a fortune on 3rd party deals in Brisbane and could end up making easy over a mil a year and only have 700,000k or 800,000k under the actual cap.
Wouldn't read to much into the rumor though. He doesn't get back from London till tomorrow so I doubt his signed anything.
Don't most players sign 2 contractsWe are talking about Cameron Smith, wouldn't be the first time he illegally got payments...
I think we all know that those rules are blatantly Broken by all clubs. In the rules of the salary cap in relation to 3rd party agreements "these agreements may not be negotiated by the club as an incentive for a player to sign a contract, nor can they be guaranteed by the club."
They can use the "marquee players allowance" up to an amount of $550k which is outside the cap (usually spread amongst several players though)
Fair result, good to see the presiding Magistrate saw through his BS defence.
Sentencing next year, doubt he will do time but can't see him in the NRL for a while
