Just watched a press-conference on Fox Sport News. For what its worth, CEO Todd Greenberg said it is NOT a police matter. And you'd hope beating your ex WOULD be a police matter... So yes, I agree an ex-footy player should know more than the average punter, and would HOPEFULLY not throw a current player under the bus, but who knows?

im thinking Young ben has had lot of pressure over the last few years. He is at the best only a very young man and he has had to grow up quick he is a dad has 2 children trying to make it in the nrl living in a 1 beeddie flat, family pressures, now he is the best in the nrl so very one wants a peice of him be it family fans newspapers etc. he has cash now to burn plenty of free time Now he may have gambling problems he may have alcohol and or substance problems domestic violence problems etc but what we dont know is that what he grew up around and what his family situation was and imagine the pressure he may feel to keep playing the way he does. Whatever he has done to be suspended i hope that he gets the appropriate help he needs and he can sought out his issues and he can get back to what he does best and thats excite us fans

Pretty serious allegations of Alcohol abuse and problem gambling since splitting with his long term partner, in yesterdays Telegraph they had a little snippet of him being spotted at a Northern Beaches pub enjoying a feed, a drink and a punt but it must be pretty serious drinking and gambling to warrant him being stood down, the tip of the iceberg perhaps, is there more to be unravelled.

Nah Kenny was good, BUT Lewis was better... Kenny held his own against Lewis BUT sorry no cigar for you Girds...

Did Penrith run out of juniors?, im sure they must be a little p1ssed at the amount of players they have signed...

f*** i hate wally lewis. brett kenny was twice the player he ever was and he got all the recognition.

i hope he is wrong and barba throws him to the wolves

Can't just be gambling problems for him to being stood down...clubs can't stand down a player for gambling, it is his money and he can what he wants with it. It's either some form of alcohol/substance abuse which has possibly resulted in other problems e.g. violence or it is for domestic violence. Either way it's best not to pass judgement until people actually know what happened.

Hmmmmm, not much sense being made of all this. Think I'll just sit here and look at my avatar for the next few weeks till the footy starts.

DALLY M champion Ben Barba has been suspended by the Bulldogs.
The club today posted a statement on its website revealing behaviour issues were behind the decision.
The statement read:
The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs have today confirmed that Ben Barba will be suspended indefinitely from all contractual duties until further notice.
The Club has also advised the National Rugby League today that Ben will not participate in the NRL’s season launch on Wednesday night where he was due to officially open the 2013 season.
The decision to suspend Ben indefinitely comes after the Club was informed of a number of behavioural issues.
“Whilst we all know the undoubted on-field attributes and abilities that Ben displays, we must always maintain our focus on the more important issues of personal development and accountability,” Chief Executive Officer Todd Greenberg said.

“It is our hope that the media and the many rugby league fans understand and respect the need for privacy in order for Ben and his family to make the relevant adjustments that are required for him to return to the playing field.”
Please find below a statement from Ben Barba in relation to his indefinite suspension from all duties with the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs:
“Today is a very difficult day for me as I feel I’ve let my family, children, Club and supporters down.
“My issues relate to seeking help for personal issues that I face day to day.
“I’m incredibly sad to be stepping aside as I’ve been so blessed with what’s happened to me over the past few years, but I feel as though I would be wearing a mask if I didn’t confront the matters I’ve been dealing with until now.
“I feel it is best to deal with these problems front on and I believe that by doing so this will make me a better person and player in the future.
“This will be a step by step process for me and whilst I hope to return to football soon, I hope that through this next period you can respect my privacy so that sooner rather than later I can return to playing rugby league as best I can.
“When I do, I hope that everybody sees a better person.”

looks like some guys know how to handle fame, winning and all that comes with it

Ryan Hoffman handed his 2013 WCC Winners medal to a young Leeds Rhinos fan who had congratulated Ryan after the game and said " The Storm had played well and had deserved to win a close game"
reports are Ryan thanked him and then a few seconds later walked back to him and said he was very sporting even though his team had lost and said you deserve something for your sportsmanship and handed him his winners medal.

a pitty the game hasn't got more like him instead of a number of jerks it as got in it
