NRL Rumour Mill Thread (Spoilers/Game Results)

The player was mentioned as being a future Origin player according to Danny Weidler this morning:

Caught on film

It must be the week for videos and NRL players. There was a video doing the rounds of a player who will one day play State of Origin doing lines of coke in a Sydney nightclub toilet. It was shot by a person who stuck a camera over the top of the door. The person who took the video has been in touch with the player by phone and Facebook. I have seen that message – and an image of the player.

The player's club is aware of the vision and has told the NRL they are not concerned about it. There was also a photo being circulated of a player keeping company that his club would not be at all happy about.

Sorry Katrina but this is a ridiculous analogy but if you want to compare, I have a cousin who suffered permanent brain damage from a drunken coward punch before these lock out laws.

It's clearly James Robert's but the video is grainy as all hell and will never be proven. Case closed.

He's had a somewhat chequered past as well

Case closed conveniently, if it was an eels player at this time it would of been under the microscope to the maximum degree in trial by media

Unfortunately the difference is that there is no proof it is a Broncos player it's only claimed and can not be backed up due to the video giving no evidence at all. With the most recent parra scandal it is known to be Norman.

Sorry to hear that your cousin is not well but I was using a figure of speech. All i am saying is that almost every player you talk to now from past and present are all agreeing that the game is getting too soft especially with the penalty's. Some of the current players are milking soft penalty's knowing that if hit high all they need to do is lay on the ground for a few seconds, then get the free penalty, then 10 seconds later once they have got the penalty for their team the player who was hit high seems pretty much ok. In Duggans case he was not which was very unfortunate, K

totally agree with you on that point. in the good old days it was considered a weakness to stay down even if you were genuinely hurt. unfortunately with the overuse of the video ref the players are basically encouraged to take a dive. In my opinion if the refs and touchies miss it.... play on. Let the match review take it further if necessary.

I would even go as far as to say if your down injured hand the ball off to some else to play and lets get on with the game. We see them stop a game now at pretty much any stage to wait for an injured player it should just be play on.

Unfortunately the players are coached to stay down in case there's a penalty forthcoming.................

Another Logan Brothers lad came through the Raiders system like Milford.

A son of a work mate played junior reps against him, growing a beard when he was 16!

Dogs have some depth in the outside backs also, just as much of a chance to play first grade in Canberra than Sydney. Disappointing because you want these young players to buy into the club and building depth is part of that.

In saying that he obviously thinks he will play more NRL with the Dogs, he is certainly good enough and probably getting more $$$ also. Just the nature of the modern day game, seems like a good kid so I hope he kills it.

7 weeks?? I can't see anything wrong with this hit (apart from the fact it's a shoulder charge) but 7 weeks is a joke, especially as Mcfadden says, you can go around breaking jaws with shoulder charges (Inglis on Dugan) and only get 3 weeks. Even Lussick said there was nothing wrong with the tackle.
Another example of the NRL judiciary joke.

I agree with you 100%. I also don't think there is much wrong with this hit, and yes other people are going to come back and say "but these are the rules" and "he broke his jaw" etc etc. But for me and many others watching the game we all love, its getting very soft and i don't like the way in which this sport is heading. Yes protect the head if there was lifting in the tackle and someone is dropped on their head but i dont agree with this 7 week suspension for a shoulder charge like this. K

Unfortunately, it is all based on two, also innocuous, prior incidents (in the space of 5 mins) earlier in the season. The issue is the severity in the way the judiciary deals with shoulder charges. No contact with the head should have very minimal charges imho. The guy who willfully stomped another player in the balls for no penalty must be having a laugh, as well as the other Origin-level grubs that get away with much worse season after season.

I'm sure I'd be a lot more cut up if it was a more influential player, but I'm quite excited to see a team without Gubb for a while. Tbh that is probably a big part of why the judiciary felt they could make an example out of him. Do you think Inglis would ever get 7 weeks?

Gotta say I used to really enjoy watching a good shoulder charge. It has taken an exciting element out of the game for me. Especially Origin, which as a neutral doesn't interest me anymore. Origin should be trench warfare.
