Guess eels and raiders have different styles of halves combos going forward, Norman will be the very dominant half for us and gutherson will be a solid option just doing the basics. Both halves combos will prob be on the same $$$ when you add both salaries.

Gutherson will also have the responsibility of being goal kicker as well

I don't think salaries are worked out on the partnership rather the individual. Norman would have extended before Guth was considered his permanent partner wouldn't he?

Every club's management is different though and if he is the marquee for that club then that explains the excess $$$.

Think the thought of gutherson as a halves option gathered a bit of momentum towards the back end of last season with the improvement in his game in the halves every week.

Brad Arthur always thought he was a lot better creating opportunities then being a finisher but was too good to leave out of our 17 hence picking him on the wing.

Gutherson is the fittest player at the eels by some stretch apparently and that includes players like Jennings, French and radradra that are all super talents. It won't be through a lack of effort if he doesn't suceed in the halves

I am hopeful Hunt will work out, But 1 million a year !! i think could strangle us salary cap wise obtaining some big forwards to match other teams as you can can have the best halves in the world but they need Room to operate and current Dragons pack can not achieve that up against such teams as Cowboys,Storm, dogs,Broncos ect.
I hope to be proven wrong.

You could be selling Gutho short.

No wonder the Tigers wanted to offload Kyle Lovett, it's just come out that he has been busted for possession 'last year' but has only just remembered to let the club know!.
Rumour is the Telegraph found out somehow and were going to print an article about it the next day forcing Lovett's hand in turn forcing him to tell the club. The timeline doesn't add up though - rumours of the Tigers trying to offload Lovett in the week leading up to them finding out about his possession charge. I suspect someone inside the club knew for a couple of weeks and were trying to push him out the door before it all came out in the media.

Gutherson may be the fittest player at the club but surely Radradra is the fastest. Has plenty of practice trying to run away from all his problems.

It was suggested on the Wests forum a few days back... one of the thinkers checked the court list.
Journos would have syphoned it from there...

Sims and Hunt officially signed by Brisbane & St George.

Obviously Hunt's departure will free up 400k + next year but how Sims is playing for just over 1/5 of his previous contract is a head scratcher.

I know Brisbane are successful and an obvious premiership contender where as Newcastle have a couple of years of building left.

SIMS will no doubt receive some TPA, it is about time that this part of the contractual process was more heavily scrutinized.

Kudos to Nathan Brown for not paying overs for SIMS and continuing the slow build in Newcastle.

The Broncos $$$$ got him there

The same ones that had Darren Lockyer playing for 250k and Corey Parker whinging about only getting 300k odd at the end of his career - poor Corey!!!!!

Every team should be forensically audited every year not just when a rogue employee or 2 speak out, its the only way teams have been caught in the salary cap era of the game.
