So Lockyer has three plates screwed into his face and every Manly player is going to "leave Lochy's face alone"... Pleaseee, it's a professional game, not one commentator, on CH9 this morning, bagged Hodges for that tackle. In fact it is obvious in slow replays that hodges pulled the tackle. If you wanted him to put two touchy hands on him, go to the park and watch a game of touch. Recognize the game for what it was...one of the best ever regular season games for years. Well done St George and Broncos for the GEM game. The rest of you, toughen up.
Don't know why people are getting twisted? Nobody said it was an illegal tackle, i thought the question was what did you think about it.
I think it was 100% legal. I think it's a tough game and you have to expect some players will take no prisoners. I think there was a classy way to deal with the situation and what is commenly referred to as a "dog act" way. The NSW player, can't remember who, who stood over Steve Price when he was knocked out and pulled him up by his shirt and dropped him again while laughing....dog act. Brett Stewart running 30m to complete a flying coathanger on a player in a 1v1 fight.....dog act. Billy Slater holding David Williams while he lay there with a fractured vertebrae....classy act. Justin Hodges who was still 20m away when Brett Morris was writhing in pain on the ground and Ben Creagh standing next to him signalling to Hodges that he's injured, then still running in and trying to cream an injured player on the ground....dog act.
Doesn't mean that i dislike Hodges or Brisbane, just means my opinion on Hodges decision was that it wasn't necessary. Nobody is going to call Hodges a fairy or that he wears skirts if he had of handled that in a classy way, nobody was calling Slater a fairy because he didn't throw Williams to the side with a 'take no prisoners' approach.
He had a broken leg FFS. made no effort to move. and i know for sure if someone did it too hodges you'd be blowing up.
What a crock of ****e Girds, if someone put a hit on hodges then good on them, they will get one in return. Morris stayed on the park, he is an opposing player and if someone can put a shot on him well and good. If DL plays next week he WILL be a target more than he already is, I am not gonna winge about that its a decision the player makes on their lonesome. If he runs out onto the park and gets hit well I won't like it only cause he is in my team but I won't winge about the hit because he is injured.
To many liberal do gooders winging about the hits in the game etc, its not touch footy, people get hit and people get hurt. None of the commentators that I personally heard had an issue with the hit on Morris........if you don't like it buddy then switch over to collecting soccer cards.
If Locky gets a cheap head shot first tackle next week you lot will take it as a declaration of war!!
Sterlo made the comment that he thought it was a poor tackle to make and did not look good.
You queenslanders have short memories. I remember you all squeeled when steve price got knocked out and creagh(?) picked him up off the ground. Its a pretty similar situation.
Think it was Waterhouse not creagh, if it was the game below
To be honest, I don't think that there was all that much in it (Hodges incident) - people say that AFL is getting soft, but if people get worked up over such as minor incident then I don't know why they watch Rugby. Sure it was pretty dirty and unnecessary but not worth such a debate..
Hodges' hit on Morris under NRL scrutiny
Brisbane centre Justin Hodges could be hit with a contrary conduct charge for his controversial tackle on an injured Brett Morris in Saturday night's NRL semi-final win.
The league's match review committee will on Monday examine the incident, which occurred in the second half of the dramatic 13-12 victory over St George Illawarra at Suncorp Stadium.
Morris had suffered an ankle syndesmosis injury after catching a kick and falling to the ground in obvious pain before Hodges ran several metres to fall heavily on the winger, despite Dragons players signalling he was injured.
The two representative stars appeared to reconcile after the incident, but committee chairman Greg McCallum and his team will decide whether it contravened the spirit of the game.
Match review committee members believe the incident is almost unprecedented, with Justin Poore's attempt to lift an unconscious Steve Price in the 2009 State of Origin series the most similar to it in recent times.
Ironically, it was Hodges who later called NSW's treatment of Price, which also resulted in Trent Waterhouse's send-off, a "dog act".
Saturday night's incident caused outrage on Sunday radio programs, with commentators quick to describe it as unsportsmanlike.
Test centre Hodges was rubbed out for two weeks in 2008 on a contrary conduct charge for making an inappropriate gesture to referee Tony Archer.
Brisbane face more trouble ahead of Friday night's grand final qualifier against Manly with halfback Peter Wallace placed on report for a first-half high shot on Dragons fullback Darius Boyd.
Dragons players declined to speak to the media when they arrived back in Sydney on Sunday.
Morris' leg is in a moon boot but a Dragons statement said fears of a fractured ankle had been allayed by scans.
The Test winger is expected to recover in time for the start of the pre-season under new coach Steve Price in November, but will undergo further tests this week.
"Brett suffered syndesmosis in the ligaments high above his ankle which is usually a six-week turnaround to heal," Dragons doctor Thomas Carrigan said.
"We took him to the local hospital following the game with the scans there showing no obvious fracture.
"We will now arrange for an MRI to take place during the week to further evaluate."
Morris courageously played on before crawling from the field in agony after leaping to defuse a Broncos bomb in the 67th minute.
"It was a tough blow to end the season like I did but I'm in good hands and am certain I'll be fit again soon," he said in the statement.
I know BUT it was a legal tackle.................FFS, they are not members of the Redfern ladies sewing club.
Morris stayed on the park, he is an opposing player and if someone can put a shot on him well and good.
