Thats not what im saying Norm, the people who are "rolling" in it are not going to pay that sort of money for a card so badly auto'd when they can spend their big bucks on a pristine example.

But why did they send him a card that has the auto off the card in the first place? All they had to do was make another card and get Kobe to sign it properly next time he signs and destroy that one, instead they were lazy and thought it was fine to send out this garbage.
Its all good to say you would "if" you had the money but i don't see anyone who has the cash putting their hand up.
Ok I think the point has been made lol.
Let's not turn this into a fleet retro thread!
If I was paying a player to be the face of my company and he sent back autos of that quality, I'd be very unhappy.
I know it is kobe and PANINI don't want to stir the pot, but still they really need to teach these guys to sign in the middle of the card.
Hell it is common sense so I don't think they need training. If I was as popular as him I would make sure my fans are happy.
The biggest problem I have is that people refer to this as a Panini problem! It is not! UD had the same issues!
I can't understand why it is a big deal because it is an on card auto, but it is almost certain that if he got the actual card he redeemed, they would have been sticker autos which are rarely all on the sticker!
Exactly my point Nick. Any card I buy needs to be Pristine (or close enough). But more importantly of a player I collect and enjoy. Can anyone show me an Example of the Griffin/Wall Black Box autos #/10? No because even though I waited 12 months they haven't even been produced! I think it's unfair some of you are showing me pics of bad autos on other cards, show me one of the Black Box #/10 then I'll be convinced.Thats not what im saying Norm, the people who are "rolling" in it are not going to pay that sort of money for a card so badly auto'd when they can spend their big bucks on a pristine example.
Hi Mark,Odds are, once they finish printing the cards the plates are destroyed. It would cost way more than the card is worth to make one copy (I know, my father is in the printing business). As far as I know, Panini does their best to replace cards with fair market value equivalents. Ang paid $800 for the 2 Griffin/Walls and he got a card that is about twice that market value. The version /99 sells for $900-1200.
Look at that, BOTH autos fall off the sticker, the Griffin auto looks like crap

Look at that one, again BOTH autos go off sticker
http://www.ebay.com/itm/2010-11-Pan...08291700?pt=US_Basketball&hash=item2322d5ca74
That's 20% of the print run where the auto goes off sticker. How about this one:
Again, both Wall & Griffin's autos go off sticker

Look at this one, Wall's auto goes off sticker:

Given all that, you've got to wonder what the odds are that one, let alone BOTH autos would be off sticker. Ang, no offense intended, but would we be having this conversation if you did receive the 2 Wall/Griffins and they looked like the ones above?
Hi Mark,
Point taken but for every bad auto I can show you at least 20 good ones. Do you have a pic of the Black Box dual autos to show me? Point is this was directly handled by Panini's new Customer Service Manager so he actually chose the card to meet my customer service expectations. Good example of Panini's new customer service?? You be the judges.
Kind regards Ang

Just be happy that you are not a Darren Collison collector like me. You would be a tornado of anger if you saw his National Treasures Rookie Patch Auto cards (sorry dont have example ready to go). At least Kobe got his auto somewhere in the viscinity of where it is meant to go.
Lol on patch instead of on card haha
