Yes, he did buy it from that somewhat dodgy seller....who in fact HAS sold AUTHENTIC SIGNED CARDS, BUT i have also seen him sell FAKES!

The second he told me where he got it, i said FAKE!!!!
But after he got the confirmation from UPPERDECK (which i have seen) i had to and still do, believe that the card is authentic.
There is no way anyone can fake the hologram from upperdeck, on a buy back auto, unless they owned the card !?!
As for the last time it sold on ebay for almost $10k....
The auction was legit!!! IT got bid up at the last minute from an American buyer, with zero feedback...

The d#ckhead that won it said, that he didn't want to pay because of the zero feedback bidder...and there wasn't much the seller could do?
He has been offered over $5k for the card multiple times, but at the time he wasn't going to sell it that cheap (I even told him not too)
As for lying about wanting to sell to buy a house...Who really cares about that?
Who are you to question his financial postion?

Anyway, I will say this.
He is not a lair about the things that matter.
Who hasn't told a white lie, i lie to myself everyday after i buy a hi-end MJ insert thinking i can afford it!

Until that card has been slabed, i don't think he will ever get what its actaully worth.

The Authenticity of the card is not the issue! That can simply be proven by upper deck. I would have thought that if it had been authenticated by UD in the past, then you would present that as part of the sale thread!

But when you are asking for thousands of dollars from someone, there aren't any acceptable lies! It was never about finding out how much he paid for it, but about who he bought it from!

You have to agree, a seller that is known for seller fakes, and not even good fakes, sells a Buyback auto from the release that MJ's rookie card comes from, for UNDER $1K, it has to be fake! But if the hologram can be verified?? Then I am wrong, and good on him for getting the steal of the century!

And what he does with his money is his business, I don't give a s*** but don't bulls*** me and other members on here by saying that you need to sell to buy a house! Especially when the use of that is to help make people think a card is a good deal!

I honestly felt sorry that topgun left the forum.

Topgun buys cards to keep them as a collection. He sells some of them if he gets an upgrade or if he's got doubles. He is selling the buy back auto because he felt that it wasn't the card he wants to keep because it wasn't as shiny as the other MJ inserts that he's got in his collection. And there is nothing wrong if he wants that amount of $$$.

I reckon he would have been a great member here and an asset to ozcards if not for people who jump on him too much for the wrong reasons.

Seeing his collection in person is quite a good feeling. Anyway, there's nothing we can do now coz he chose to leave.

This reply is not just about topgun but also for future new members that will join the forum....

One thing I really want to point out to fellow members (you know who you are) is that if you see a newbie on the forum and make comments that you don't feel is appropriate or is not following the site rules, please use the report button or send them a pm to guide them about the site rules. Unless you're one of the mods then it is ok. Don't embarrass them by telling them off like you are one of the mods.

EVERY single person that as bought a card for less then they plan to sell it, has every right to say whatever he wants about how much he payed for it!!! And also where he got it...
If you think, thats not the most common practice in the history of buying and selling anything on ebay, then you must be very naive.
I have agreed that the seller he got it off, can not be trusted at all...more then once!
Again, i was only a believer of the authenticity of the card AFTER i saw the email from upperdeck. No. i don't have a copy,or it would have been posted here straight away!
I think that the person that locked the thread on this card should follow up and let everyone know the outcome. ME included!

I find this hole thread insulting to my character, as i myself have been labelled as nothing but a "sus" member.
Without any justification!

I find it funny that people are aloud to make threads like this, without any real info on who they are talking about.

Yet the thread about the actual card has been locked.
But i guess thats ok as you and a few other people on this forum know everything and i know nothing.
Maybe people should get to know a new member before making accusations.

The card gets brought up because it is the reason for all of the lies! It is not brought up to continue to speculate on whether it is real or not! Personally, I don't believe it is, but I am open to being proven wrong! You were the same until you saw the email!

Now, the comments about 'new members being sus' was not about saying that you 2 were sus, but the timing that you joined was! It was just after the thread on Blowout, so Matty was saying that it is suspicious that 2 Jordan collectors turn up so fast!

But this is the important part:

I personally have NO PROBLEMS with you or anything you have done or said! In fact, I think you have been open and honest since you came on here! I wouldn't have any hesitation looking into deals with you in the future, although I doubt you have any Dejuan Blairs, lol

It is a simple case of you getting tarnished with the same brush as your mate, because you were right there with him!

Don't get put off by this thread! All of the guys who have posted or 'liked' comments in here are reasonable guys and will make their own minds up about you without needing others' opinions! And, like you said, you have been 100% honest on here, so there is nothing to worry about

Hey, has anyone confirmed that MJ buy-back IS real yet? Matty posted in the locked thread that he was waiting on UD to respond, and that he THOUGHT it was real, but there was nothing to ever state that it was. Seemed too good to be true for me.

I don't understand that bit about not wanting it, cos it wasnt "shiny". LMAO. Get it slabbed with a gold label, cos it was almost guaranteed a 9.5 yeah??? That'll be shiny then!
