I just went out the front of my house (time-out in Heat vs Celtics :p) to check if there was any mail or a note as I'm expecting something via registered. There was nothing in my letter box so I just stood in my front yard for a while looking around and then hear the postie coming and I thought sweet mail time! :woot: Collect it and doesn't seem to be anything for me in there and as I flick through it I notice collection slip. They didn't even come to my door to knock they just leave a slip in my letter box! and this always happens!!! It pisses me off!!! :yellow:  :fist:

End rant!

Don't blame you. It's a damm nuisence to have to go to the PO unnecessarily. Have you complained to the PO manager?.

I have the same issue. The letterbox at my place is actually through the back yard. And out of the two drivers only one takes the time to turn the corner and come to the front door. It's no real issue as i grab it the next day but yeah VERY annoying. AAE has got the hint though their driver took notice of the note i put at the back gate and i get all my AAE packages without having to go out to the airport :).

Yeah there is abit of inconsistecy sometimes, guess it just depends on your postie and if he can be bothered walking to your front door

Well all I can say about my local postie is that he is fantastic, stops off to drop off the mail and for a chat. Sometimes he even stops when he has no mail for me just to ask what new cards I have received, beers for the postie this Christmas...............:)

Happens to me all the time, lazy *****s.

It is damn annoying finding time to pick something up from the P.O. when someone was home at the time and the postie didn't do their job properly. Idiots.

If you were standing in your front yard, why didnt you greet the posty?

That's besides the point :)

It's not viable to be standing in your front yard every day anyway.

well, being a postie myself, the problem is usually the aussie post criteria, not the postie.
when you rock up in the morning you have your mail counted, they then give you a time sheet in what time
your expected to finish sorting the mail and what time you get it all delivered.
so for example, I start 6am, I do just one street in the city.
usually i'm finished sorting around 9am and they'll give me a stupid time like, be back at 11.24
based on my mail that day, but they don't know how many regies i have, so if i got 15 regies, i have to deliver to get signed.
sometimes i can stuff around for 10 minutes for one letter, waiting for some knob to get out of the shower or something, add it all up and my times are totally stuffed, you then get pressured to explain why you got back 32 minutes later then the computer calculated, and believe me, some posties almost get suicidel from the pressure.

also there can be many other reasons, like if the package is a bit too big and should of been delivered as a parcel in a van, posties can't carry it so instead of sending it back through the system, they will write a card and have it delivered to your local post shop.

oh, another crappy thing now days is aussie post delivers junk mail, which also doesn't get counted that well.
so instead of delivering to just houses with letters, you need to hit every single house just to put in junk mail.

I'd imagine your postie is under pressure to deliver on time, give him a break hey.

Most annoying thing I've had happen is the postman in the delivery van leaving My Parcel in front of the WRONG flat - even though my flat number is clearly marked and in sight. Because of that I requested they do not leave anything if I am not home, I'd rather collect from post office knowing I'm going to get it than risk my bogany neighbours not being honest. Thankfully all mail has been handled correctly since :)

i get annoyed when i have a magazine or something come with "DONT BEND & DELIVER TO DOOR" written on it and they cram it through the hole. I get so much they left me a piece of paper to sign if i would like things just left at the gate or door... needless to say that got binned.

Two sides to every story. My postie is terrific. If i have a reg item and am not home on his first pass he will call again later. But if he behaved like Liam's he would not get his Xmas cake and I would be in AP's ear like a shot.

I thought this happened in the country or in TV Shows...didn't think they give a toss anymore...but nice bloke for making the effort!!!

Glad we could hear your side of the story. I reckon companies need to chill, where's the compassion and personal touch gone...it's karma, give a little bit extra and someone will give a little extra back to you.

I am under pressure at my job also, but I do it properly and don't take shortcuts.

As I said before, stuff time limits and quotas. Isn't it quality over quantity.

never happened to me before.. i think the people that deliver parcels are contracted out and really depends on who you get so im guessing the person in charge of delivering to you is just plain lazy... my postie knows i work nights and gives me enough time to get out of bed and wack some clothes on when he comes earlier.. always has a friendly little chat and is a really good bloke..

my PO is near my GFs work so i can normally get her to pick it up for me.. and its only a 2 min drive up the road.. can see how it would get a bit frustrating if it is more of a hassle to get down there..

I can't remember ever having a registered package delivered to my house, its always the slip for me and the 10 minute drive to the post office
