Just wondering what the most words people have typed for an assignment/report/thesus/document in their lives..
i just typed a ~7800 word report on thermoplastics, annealed malleable iron and ferrites..

who can beat this

I had to do a 5000 word report on film editing in uni and I scraped in with something like 5011 if I remember correctly. It's hard to write that much without repeating yourself.

**** me! probably a 5 word love letter to the missus! I love you love ben! :) Nah seriously I dunno... too many essays/thes etc - just want to forget those days!

i had a 10,000 word assignment that took me about 2 and a half months to do. lol think i only managed 9500. it was a report for uni about how to implement a new strategic marketing campain into a existing underachieving business with a limited budget.

facsinating huh lol

i still have it if anyone needs a sleep assist :)

yeah, think my biggest was about 7500-8000 words for a major essay for screen studies, i think it was about "the sadistic misogyny displayed towards the female form in hitchcock's cinema" or similar. fun topic to write about but that many words is DAMN hard to do. i did a couple of 5000+ word papers for my psychology degree as well.

i dont know how youd do a 8000 word paper on shit like malleable iron though...sounds like a very effective form of torture. :D

I did a 20,000 word 100 odd page report on Electron Microscopy in my final year of my degree, counted 60% of my grade (other 40% was exam)

they are the worst when they are worth more than the rest of the subject. i hate that extra pressure cause you know if you stuff it up your gone. luckly i never had a 20000 word one to do. i would of went mental. hang on i am already. hahaha

wow! can we read it? what was it about?

anyway, thats different, i could write a bajillion words on a subject like basketball or guitars, but when you have to write an essay its a whole other ball game.

Yes I agree essays are difficult, but novels are another sort of difficult period. Even bad novels are difficult. Especially when trying to write 50,000 words in one month. It's an amazing challenge. I reached the 50,000 words in about 21 days.

What's more my novel isn't bad, it's not a best seller, maybe not even publishable (in current state) but it actually has plot, subtext etcetera, which is not an easy thing to just do.

And nah I'm not thinking a soapie drama about the lives of several people in a small city would impress anyone here ;) and that is what my novel is.

Good on ya AJ! I wrote a 20,000 word book for kids a few years back. Funnily enough i like it too! but have never had the guts to send it off. About 4 boys going down a mineshaft and finding a skeleton of a gold miner.....
Some of those assignments sound horrific - especially the topics!! Glad I'm past that stage of my life...

way to go AJ! You guys on here have done some big suckers in your time! Some brain dead subjects/topics too :) You guys deserve a pat on the back! Unfortunately it all counts for nothing on the court ;)

Great stuff AJ & KG. I remember I had a 10000 word essay in Uni, but can't remember what for, though.

I also remember our Software Engineering project ended up being about 65 pages (but there were also a heap of pics/graphs), but that was the initial phase, before a lot of the refinement occurs.
