The tax breaks are huge, I remember back when the Vancouver grizzles where around, they had cap space galore but free agents only went their if they way over paid them because their tax was %20, makes it a hard sellFlorida is one of 7 US states (Texas being another) that has no personal income tax, so they are taking home quite a lot of that pay-check.
Not sure what the income tax is in other states though to compare it with.
I'd personally hate to see Melo go there.
As much as I like the Heat team and what they've done, I'd like to see the big3 either; split up this off-season and go their separate ways, or stay the way they are and get solid role players, not another superstar.
Bron is hated enough for his perceived 'weakness' of not getting it done in Cleveland.. he'll never shed the moniker if he gets another tier 1 franchise player on his team.
This is what will kill the nba, are players now days scared to try win on their own, waters down any championship when you have to go chasing the championship on another team in your prime
I don't think 'scared' is the term.
More likely they see the benefit in not having to carry a team all the way and get knocked out every year in the semis... or struggle to even make the post-season. Joining up with another franchise player on a solid team nearly garantees you'll make it.
Superstar players now in their 7th-10th year are realising that they only have a few prime to good years left.. and probably think will I ever win a chip??
They shouldn't care what the rest of the world thinks about jumping teams through FA, they should be thinking about looking after numero uno, whether thats big pay-check or winning the NBA's big banana.
When you used to play basketball at school and you were picking teams...
Did you want to play on the same team as the guy that is lazy on defense and throws up airballs all the time, or the guy that can rebound and pass well and score at will?
Point taken, probably a really stupid analogy.. LMAO
There's no Championship at stake in the schoolyard.
I wanted to win with the team I was with because it was more rewarding, to me personally I think it's better to struggle and break thru and win a ring even if it's just one, than to hitch my cart to someone else's team and win, it would not be as rewarding, because even if you win 3 or 4 rings their always going to have an * next to them, *(could not win it being the star, so went and won a ring being someone's bitch) lmao, that's only my thoughts tho, just wish players showed abit more loyalty now day, loyalty created some wicked rivalry's lakers/celtics, nicks/pacers, bulls/pistons, since all this player jumping started theirs no real rivalryI don't think 'scared' is the term.
