Normally I don't post mail days but this one was a significant one for one of my major PC's - Kevin Garnett.
First, a little background. I've been collecting now for just over 30 years - damn that's scary. Not only was I chasing sets (back then, upper deck products were my go to) but I was also collecting two players - Patrick Ewing and Jalen Rose. In January of 1996, I bought a couple of packs of the brand new 1995-96 collector's choice series 2. The first rookie I pulled was Kevin Garnett. As was (probably) likely of most - if not all - collectors at the time, I would read all the info on the back of the card. When I read the quote from Garnett's farragut academy coach saying that Kevin had an inside game "reminiscent of Patrick Ewing", I knew then I was collecting the kid regardless of how he did. You have to remember, he was yet another lottery pick by Minnesota and yet another big man drafted by Minnesota. The timberwolves didn't have a good record with big men. Who would have known he'd have the career he did.
Another thing I could never have imagined was the milestone I've just reached with my Garnett pc. With much thanks to my regular supplier of pc cards here - jkidd_05 - and a recent(ish) numbers boost courtesy of fellow hardcore Garnett collector, garnettfan4life, and others over the years (you know who you are), I have reached a total of 2000 individual items for my pc.
This doesn't mean, I'm quitting. No sirree. I'm staying. I have no specific goals with any of my PC's other than to get what I can.
Below are today's arrivals. In the following posts, I'll put some pics of some of the highlights of my Garnett PC.
Again cheers to all who have helped me reach this major milestone.
