I actually like Byron Scott as coach.

When the roster is as broken as it is now, everything seems difficult. Just gotta ride out the season and hopefully they can attract a "tier 2" player or two rather than go all in on the big fish. You get those guys and suddenly you have draft picks, young talent, role players. Only one thing left to become relevant again after that.

If they didn't sign Kobe to that ridiculous contract, they would have a lot more options to make moves.

Regardless of what they did / should have paid him they still would have taken the same path and missed out of the big free agent fish and still been in this same situation, but with more money left over.

For what it's worth, I have no problem with what they paid him. Jerry Buss did these deals with his superstars more than once and With the new TV rights increasing the cap significantly they'll still be able to sign players no problem.
