I dont think its real :(

The K is loopy in the second one with a long tail, compared to a non-loopy K and a short down tail.

However, the autos are like 7 years apart and sigs tend to change over time especially when you sign a lot.

But, I'm hoping its real for you Carlos!

I'm hopin for your sake its genuine.

But it kinda looks a little tacky.

Did ya get a COA with it, as it does say its Topps Certified.

98-99 Topps Certified Auto....?

Be good to know more about the card.

I really cant see it being a real one, BUT could be wrong.

As Mike pointed out, they're 7 years apart...

Anyone got a Beckett handy??

Here ya go Scotty:

1998-99 Topps Autographs
SER.1 STATED ODDS 1:329 HOBBY
SER.2 STATED ODDS 1:378 HOBBY

Total Item(s) Found: 2

Set Name Card # Description Low Price High Price
1998-99 Topps Autographs AG2 Kobe Bryant $60.00 $120.00
1998-99 Topps Autographs AG9 Kobe Bryant $75.00 $150.00

This one is AG2. Beckett Online doesnt have a pic though so I can't compare the auto.. so unless the card itself is fake, then this is a real auto... that just looks crap. Hehe.

GEM is the dodgieset grading company theres is. Its all been discussed before. I'm not familar with the card but it doesnt' look right. A kobe collector could tell you what to look for.

Autos do change and it was a long time ago but I wouldnt bank on it.

Well listed big seller and still it went cheap. You have to wonder why.

Well, the auto isn't really the problem now aye? Even if Kobe slipped his hand while signing, couldnt be bothered, or it changed througout the years..

Because it's an autographed insert set. So unless the card itself is fake, then of course the auto is fake. :P

Thanks for the thoughts guys.. I haven't paid for it yet, so I'll have to ask around and investigate some more.

It could be like them Iverson Scoreboard ones, the ones that were flooding ebay, and they all looked like a 2 year old signed em.

The one Ruckas posted, looks more like it should.

Seeing that auto for a card back then, has convinced me that his auto hasnt changed from all these years.

Perhaps you could flip it back here to a noobie Carlos? LMAO....

But Scoreboard is dodgy and had an insert set that has "signature" on the setname but doesnt have autographs.

Anyone know an expert Kobe collector?

Show it to Croationtwins on beckett. They have the best Kobe collection I've seen or ask GregDawg also. He may be able to help I say.

Do you talk to them chad? I don't go on Beckett forums much.. if you can forward to me their emails that'd be great. Or if you wana ask them for me. :prayer:

If this is fake, I reckon I should still pay for it, then complain on Paypal once I get it and get a refund.. and then I have a nice fake Kobe auto and my money back.

Just post it on Bekett attn GregDawg come in.

He deals in sports memerobilia in LA and is a lifetime Lakers fan. He will be able to answer you there.

Tell him I sent ya over! LOL

Isn't that submitted by collectors not beckett??

Damn if it is the real deal is totally different from all his other autos out there. Does that make the one on Naxcon fake then?? They wouldn't use a different pen for the same card and the auto would be similar.
