Austar hooked up to my Plasma on WED and I'm absolutely loving the amount of NBA. Had a game everyday so far.
So day I decided to go and get a digital recorder to burn some games.
When I was a JB HIFI I picked up a amp and speaker package.
I just go it home and I'm absolutely struggling to set it up.
I'm thinking I'm needing to buy more cords- an optical cable and coaxial cable. As the bloke who sold it to me, it was his first day so he knew bugger all.
I've got no sound out of my amp and speakers and the DVD RECORDER has no signal.
Can anyone help me out on this?
come on you guru's
Plug the TV antenna (free to air) into the Austar box, the austar box into the Recorder (most likely via red/white/yellow AV cables), the recorder into the Telly depending on cords for Recorder/Telly, could be numerous ways to do that.
Would have to see a photo or two of the Amp stuff you have to help you with the Audio setup for all together.
But the steps above should (once tuned) have you recording telly, and austar to the recorder.
Yeah, if you put up pics of the input/output panels for each device you have I'm sure we can come up with something. It is a nightmare in one way, but fun in another, kind of like a puzzle of cables. Your amp will be your 'audio hub', controlling and directing the sound (and hopefully the picture as well) for each device. Usually you need to input everything that signals pics/sound (DVD recorder, DVD player, Austar, Digital box etc) and output it to the speakers obviously and the TV. You can always start off easy with your new kit (just hook the DVD recorder direct with Austar and TV) to get comfortable with it first before setting up everything. Another handy tip is to (if possible) keep good access to the back of your entertainment unit until you have everything setup perfectly...no point pushing/pulling the thing in and out every ten minutes!
Does the amp have a radio (is it a receiver type amp)? That can be useful for checking it out separately. Or again, just input the sound into it from one thing that works (Austar or even you telly) just to get a feel for using it. It is the best piece of kit for the entertainment system, a good amp!
This is certainly a job made easier by a few beers Dream ;-)
But yeah I've found over the years these things are best left to Dr Curley and once done put labels on all the cords so if you have to move things its easier in the future.
Here are the scans of the backs of each of outlets.
The top is my Plasma
Right middle is my STB
Bottom left is my AMP
bottom right is DVD RECORDER
If you could help out that would be fantastic.
Try and keep it in laymans terms for me .
Maybe draw coloured lines to match the red= right speaker etc.
and just keep the arial and svideo blk
I'll be in the same boat next weekend when we move. I'll be setting it all back up again, but will be incorporating the Surround Sound System with it all (hopefully).
Dream, on your photobucket your Movember pics are working fine, but your TV pic is saying that it is corrupt. It is also showing as a .jpg file, but its properties say it is actually a HTML file. Did you do something different to make these pics, use a different program maybe?
As an alternative, you could probably just send me the brand and model numbers of the devices and I could Google the back panel pics off the web.
