ok so i read this and had an idea.

Regarding the 10 feedback minimum, if you think we need to increase it, put up a thread in the Site Suggestions forum and we will discuss it.

10 Feedback Rule: a) Members with less than 10 feedback on OzCardTrader MUST SEND FIRST unless the person can provide references from other trading websites and/or eBay with trading card history to the satisfaction of the member they are trading with.

ok here is my suggestion. instead of having the minimum 10 feedback rule and sending first, how about instead of having a minimum 10 the rule is that the person with 10 has to send and trade / sales deals via registered mail until they reach 10 but both parties post at the same time.

just an idea that came to my mind.

To me a minimum 10 FB is too low. I think the bar needs to be raised to a minimum 15 where the newbie must send first no matter what. This includes references from other sites etc. Then after 15 and to 25 an established member can request they send first if they wish but of course the new member can provide proof of other sites FB etc to maybe have it done the normal way. I also feel that we need to have a section on a member's profile where FB from other sites can be recorded (ie just the number it was when they joined OCT) and a link to their profile at that site. Obviously this FB rating from other sites can only be added by site admins and cannot be tampered with by the member. I think this will help with the trust issue and further securitise our fantastic site!

It's hard to prove though isn't it that the member name here is actually the same person as the name on another site, could easily say I am such and such from SCF or whatever site cause it has 100 feedback, hard to verify without admin contacting admin from another site and matching name/address

yess i suppose unless you have generally the same username. but im my case my ebay acc is a family shared account, which is why its a different username.

I think boosting up to 15 is a good idea.

Registered post is a bit expensive for some people and reduces the value of the deal so it's not worth it.

As for the feedback transfer effect...if you want it then use the same name...easy as that I guess...all mine are pretty similar...

Yeah I mean say there is a Wheeldude on some other site but it's not you, admin can't verify without confirming with the other site admin.
Anyway, not the point I suppose, just saying.

I wasn't suggesting using it to transfer FB i was just saying having the info readily available for other members to see to help make a more informed decision.

Just a thought, anyone can trade 10 base cards and get 10 good feedback and then rip someone off on an expensive card on the 11th deal. I suggest ppl also check the deals that have been done to see if high value deals are done b4 doing any non registered expensive deals.

I that case a admin of this site would have accounts on the other forums and get the member to PM them on the other site.

You will never control it, for every good person out there, there will be 2 shifty rip offs. No matter what rules you put in place the dodgy ones will find a way around it (locks only keeps honest people out). After a bad experience on this site I am very wary whom I deal with, and from reading most of the posts on this site I am not too concerned about the members it's the people on ebay you have to watch out for, then again I am only a buyer not a seller.

Yes this is true and you will never keep these people out 100%, but if you make it as hard as you can to rip people off a lot of people will throw in the towel and look for an easier target.

Great suggestion ! that is the only way to do it because anyone can just buy up cheap stuff to build the feedback before going high end ! Check out feedback in full def works

In all reality the 10 feedback rule was put in to protect members from themselves (we've had people sending first to newbies since time began). So after thinking about it, I don't know how much will change if we increase the trade score for sending first.

Regardless of how many deals someone has done, nothing beats your own research and getting as much info as possible from the person you are dealing with including additional contact details/phone numbers and address in case something goes wrong. It astounds me when users are doing trades for cards worth hundreds of dollars and send cash off to a bank account or email address without getting these basic details.

I think it comes down to education and maybe we need to update the FAQs to reflect what users should and shouldn't do in trades. A cheat sheet if you will.
