Jersey number change

We've all heard about Kobe's change from 8 to 24, but now Amare Stoudemire will be changing his from 32 to 1 from next season onwards.

Amare to change jersey number from No. 32 to No. 1 - NBA - ESPN

What's with all these Star Player number change? It's not as though they're changing teams. We're all used to their numbers, now not one but two are making a change.

This will be a hit for the Apparel makers - Nike, Champions etc.

At least Kobe has moved from my number....#8. It is strange that they would choose to change. Personally, i wear number 8 in all sports that i play and would even consider changing numbers??

Does anyone know the reasoning behind the change??

yeah im a bit pissed that he chose 1, such a boring number, plus you cant collect his jersey numbered cards unless theyre 1/1s

i think phoenix did retire his jersey, maybe it was philly though? i wouldnt care what number it was but 1 is just a shit number. i dont want BOTH players i collect to have 1 as their number.

The jersey makers have probably told them they'll get a commission. No one will want to be seen wearing the old number in the stands....phhht
