Obviously you can't go past Reggie, but it's great to see JO in there, he's done so much for them, carrying the torch from Reggie and leading them deep into the playoffs multiple times. Personally I'd like to see Mark Jackson a bit higher. Jalen Rose probably cracked around top 15 votes.

Indianapolis, April 14, 2007 – Three generations of Pacers players headlined the 40th Anniversary Team announced by the Indiana Pacers and voted on by more than 40,000 fans.


The 40th Anniversary Team will be honored during a special halftime ceremony on Sunday, April 15, when the Pacers host the New Jersey Nets at 3:30 p.m.

Reggie Miller, the franchise's all-time leading scorer who, in 2000, led the Pacers to their only NBA Finals appearance, topped all vote-getters with 31,513 votes. Mel Daniels, the anchor of the teams that won three ABA championships, was second with 22,585 votes, while current Pacers forward Jermaine O'Neal finished third with 22,277.

Fans that voted for the 40th Anniversary Team were able to select up to 12 players from a list of 40 players. After voting, fans could choose to enter to win a customized 1967 Chevy Camaro. Fans were also eligible to win an authentic autographed jersey of a current Pacers player and two Lower Level tickets to a game.

The customized 1967 Chevy Camaro will be given away on Fan Appreciation Night on April 18 as the Pacers host the Washington Wizards at 8:00 p.m. The 1967 Chevy Camaro represents the first year of the Pacers franchise, as well as the first year that Chevrolet produced the Camaro. The 1967 Chevy Camaro was also the pace car at the 1967 Indianapolis 500.

it is good to see JO there. the move to the pacers is really what sparked his career. im not suprised to see reggie with the most votes.

^ Reggie Miller is Indiana. Not many players are synonymous with a franchise name. But when you say Indiana Pacers, Reggie comes straight up. Just as Michael Jordan does with Chicago, Scottie Pippen does with Chicago and Dominique Wilkins does with the Atlanta Hawks.

and yet none of them finished their careers with those teams... apart from Pippen, how did a tour of the Western Conference before rejoining the Bulls... and he may not be finished yet

I think Rik Smits spent his entire career with the Pacers as well. 12 or so years.
It's cool to see The Dunkin' Dutchman remembered in the top 5.

I actually think of Bird when Boston comes to mind, but probably because I'm from an era where Bird was talked about more than Russell!

Very true though. Tim Duncan will also be there with the Spurs when he's done just as Kobe will be with the Lakers. Shaq would've been had he not moved to Miami, starting a new legacy there with their first title, while Kobe made his own legacy by scoring 81 and averaging 35.5 last season
