no i do not expect to make my money back. When I chase something I want I chase it to keep it. Plus I don't have much patience these days so I try to buy the first one that pops up lol.
I've spent ..... thousands over the years. Have no significant (female) other atm, so am not worried about that. But when i did have GF's, they understood that i collected cards and it was a big part of who i was.
I have spent thousands over the time, mostly on boxes, If I have not busted any boxes and just bought singles I would have 10 times more cards in my PC that I have now. But it's the catch 22, if I didn't bust all the boxes the hobby wouldn't be the same.
Anyway, If I sold up I would make decent money but lose terribly overall.
I'd probably make coin on my Payton collection if i were to ever sell but would lose heaps on my Augustin collection.
As for what i've spent? I'd say about an inner Sydney house deposit worth, which when i say it out loud (type it) seems ridiculous. Maybe its time to chill on the cardboard
From the threads I have seen on here, everyone spends too much. I dont remember half of the prices that I paid, just ballpark. I dont know where to start as to what they would value at, I know what I would need to move them and its not a realistic number so they are mine for the long haul and I am happy about that.

Some of the rare cards are so hard to find, that when they do pop up for sale I find myself in a fight to get them...
I've had too over pay on a few, but it evens out when you buy cards cheap at other times....
My collection lets be frank here... I have over 400 cards in the Nuggs PC inc. Autos, Patches, Low numbered, Tags, 1/1's. Let's say the average with about $25 per card, some well over, some well under.
400x$25 = $10,000 .... Holy Sh*t
Then on top of that I have the Supernatural collection too oh dear.
