Have you ever met your sporting heroes?

I was out in the surf(wont say local to protect his playpen), just the two of us, me and billy slater:eek:. Top bloke and handles himself on a surfboard okay. We just cruised catching waves and chatting- all laid back. i went in and stood on edge watching 11yrold son bboarding. told him what was going on. B. slater paddles in and right next to mitch. He just looked up gobsmacked, billy said helo and mitch awestruck- couldn't say a thing- both of us laughed. Reminded me, back years of billy smith, great st. george halfback- playing post NSWRL at southport tigers gold coast. The guy would sit down at the "shed" and talk to all us little sh..s. yeh, memorable moments. Top thread

I have met a lot of Melbourne players when I went to a training sessions last year. I do remember meeting Brock McLean in 05 in the rooms after a game, he was my favourite back then. Now I cannot stand him, I hope the dees smash him when they play Carlton

I went to the collingwood family day yesterday and finally got to meet Buckley, also had my daughter get her pic and auto with leon davis. Swanny and Beams were nice also.

I was going to go to that but had cricket all day:( was it any good mate??

Yeah was pretty good day mate. Most player were in the auto tents signing all day but there was a group of players in the photo tent. People like Christain, Buckley, Gavin Brown etc walking around posing for photos and giving autos. Overall it was a nice relaxing day and cant wait to go again next time.

Heres the pic of my daughter and Leon (Nice bloke), also managed to get some autos from Beams, Didak, Pendlebury, Leon, Buckley, Gavin Brown and a few others

Had a fantastic day.
Am in Sydney for UFC110. Went to Bondi Beach today. Was sitting outside the German Beer Cafe having drinks.
Saw UFC fighter Ryan Bader, said hello congrats etc got a photo. Was well happy :)
Then it was like a who's who of fighters (spoke to/ got photo's with all of them)
Then I saw CB Dollaway and Jesse Forbes, were inside the German beer place that we were visiting!! When they left I chatted to them (they said who got fight+ko+sub of the night).
Then about 30 mins later Cain Valasquez walked past!!
We later left the beer cafe and continued walking down the strip.
Bumped into Wanderlei Silva!! Awesome bloke and huge even compared to the other fighters (he is built like a tank!!).
Not 2 minutes later saw Big Nog getting out of a car just ahead of us. He was understandibly quiet, but still a great bloke.
BEST HOLIDAY EVER!!!
Sounds unbelieveable, but I got the photo's to prove it!!!

Ozguy- If i lived in Vic i would have loved to go to the family day. Thanks for sharing the pic im sure your little girl will hold great memorys of it in years to come.

I've had 2 hero"s 1st was Jonah lomu..who didn't love him when he burst onto the scene for NZ, if we were lucky enough you were allowed to run onto the field and swarm the players for an autograph sometimes you'd have to weasel your way thru the crowd to get to the players! Sometimes the kids used to run onto the field before the games were finished (I think this is when running out became frowned upon) got his auto, took me a few goes and then me and my brother got yanked out of primary school by my dad for a suprise he had jacked up some special tickets at a lunch function with the All blacks! Got to say hi to everybody at there tables and they signed all my stuff which is pretty awesome when your about 7 years old "they were monsters"!!! Was wearing my Jonah tee aswell Which dad had in the car he loved it!!

2nd is wanderlei silva, as soon as I got into UFC which was around Tim sylvias HW title run...I was shown a DVD by my mate of this event called pride Wanderlei was on it, and I said straight away have you got anymore of his fights!! Was hooked on him ever since!!
I've never personally met wanderlei but my brother went to the US with his rugby team and my parents..I had jacked up thru wandfightteam.com for him to train with wand 1 on 1 at his gym which he accepted..said it was amazing and was really nice guy he talked to mum and dad for Ages showed them around was really accommodating..they said that I had jacked it up and gave my brother 6 wand tees and 2 of them personally signed to my brother and 1 to me..mine is now framed with photos of him training with my brother..inscriptions are "to Elliott 100% Jesus best wishes WAND" considering guys like him don't have to do stuff like this it makes you appreciate them more! Just liked to share that wand story, since it's my highlight of my mma fan base..
