Hey guys

thought it would be good to see if you have met the one or even more sporting people you look up to:thumbsup: my sporting hero would have to be Dane Swan he plays for the mighty pies and is a very good player ive met him a couple of times now once in primary school and another time at the lexus center wheni went on a tour his a preety cool guy i must say.. He signed my jumper and i have it hanging up in my room since that day:) but who is your hero? have you ever met them? i know for the nba people it might be a bit hard because you would have to fly over to the US to meet them..

:v:

i have had a few sporting heroes and i have met most of them. when i was young i my favourite afl player was chris grant and i have met him a few times. also one of my main heroes was john cena from wwe (not into wwe much anymore) and i was very lucky to have met him, not once, but twice.
great thread jack :)

i have also met a few afl legends through doug hawkins who i know, as i am good mates with his son. and at the 2008 afl hall of fame match i was sitting where all the hall of famers were, so i got autos of all the legends of the afl :D

My sporting heroes were the 1970's Wests rugby league team.

In those days i used to go into the dressing rooms at Lidcombe Oval after the game and say g'day to the guys and get autographs, i even went to the oppostion dressing rooms to do the same. Most players even walked in through the front turnstiles so that was always a treat.

How times have changed

My all time hero is Robert Banger Harvey.

A few years ago i used to run water for the boys at Moorabbin during pre season training and i struck up an awesome friendship with rob, so much so that i got invited around to dinner with him danielle and my parents.

Awesome bloke
CARN THE SAINTS !!!

Ive met and got autos from shane warne, glen mcgrath and matty hayden unfortunatly i was a silly kidd at the time and lost the autos.
Also Nathan Buckley walked past and waved at the gabba when he was commentating the lions pies game last year.

Would love to meet and talk to Bucks, any pies players and other notable mention would like to meet Andrew Symonds

I really was a huge fan of Ben Cousins (before the whole drug incident) but I still think he is a great player, I met him three times and got his autograph too. I also met pretty much the whole Eagles squad back in their premiership year in 2006 at their family day (Juddy, Coxy, Embers, Cuzy and everyone else). As for Daequan, no:( maybe when I visit the states next year for a "Sporting Trip"

Even though I am a rabbitoh for life growing up one of my sporting heroes was Mick Cronin,I got to meet him back in 1979 with some of my school mates and got our photo taken with him for the local paper.

Okay :)

I have always loved Matty Bowen :D I got to meet him at the Centenary fan day in Sydney in Febuary 2008. The MAIN thing being watched on the day was that there were NO pohotos to be taken with players as they were very busy with running clinics, signeding autographs and getting the big 400+ player photo taken. I just missed JT from getting his ato and I was SO upset. We were waiting to get autos from Cowboys playrs when my mum say Bowen. I ran and said can I grab a photo. He said No but I grabbed him and got a photo :D and also got my jersey with the 1 o the back signed.

I have now met him 3 times and always seems like a great guy and signscards and poses for photos :)

My heros are prety much all sports players but I cant meet them all. Met alot of the NRL players though, like Locyer, Cam Smith, Allan Langer, Fittler, Civoniceva and THURSTON!

I wish I could met the Heat team!!!

I am glad to have met all the players I have. Probabaly over 400 players in my time

cool mate JT grew up where i live i know his uncle, he owns a delivery company here.

Last year when the Indians toured New Zealand I actually hung out with the indians at their hotel as I was talking to Gautam Gambhir for a lot of one of the days so I hung out with the indian boys including Sachin for a while and got their autographs in my book. Just today I also met Dan Vettori and Tilakaratne Dilshan at a state game and got their autographs.

Just saw that you would like to meet any pies player, well i just thought i'd tell you that i've actually played on Travis Cloke about 3-4 times during my footy days he used to play centre half forward and i was our centre half back. Was pretty cool playing on him as everyone knew that he was going to make it to the AFL one day for sure and was a good test for myself...have to say i think i won the duals to ;)

Nah I dont hang out with him or anything, a few of my other mates speak to him regulary though...he just lives around the corner from me aswell. I've also played on Matt Bates from Melbourne and Heath Hocking from Essendon and have hang out with Heath at a few parties of friends...i thought i could have made it pretty close to VFL/AFL but unfortunately my health got the better of me for a few years around 18-20 years old :(

I bought the pies book side by side that was released in November it opens your eyes u think of these guys like machines if there off have a bad night u think lazy *****s. I did not realise as im sure alot of others that Travis Clokes gf was killed in a boating accident last year just before he was attacked in Qld at a hotel. poor bugger rough couple of weeks

Most of my sporting heroes are soccer players..I've met Oliver Khan(Germany NT GK and Bayern Munich legend) and have a lil chit chat + autograph from him when Bayern Munich had a friendly match in Jakarta 2 years ago. Such a friendly guy. Also I've met with Mick Doohan back then when Moto GP was held in Indonesia.
