I'll give you an example of paying too much for postage... I paid
$53US (incl ins) for ordinary mail for this one:
Hill Lot The seller paid only $35US. I got them in 4 working days... Do I feel I got ripped off? Not a chance... I lowered my max bid by $30. Instead of putting $150US, I just put $120 to reduce (in the back of my mind) the excessive postage. In the end it only cost me a total of $128US. Ok, theres only 84 cards in the lot but around 35 of them are ones I wanted (some are already with GWill
)... Before I put my bid, I am well aware of the excessive postage cost...
If I will buy them 1 by 1, It would have cost me over $300 and months of internet time if they ever show up on ebay. We should be happy that our hobby has extended worldwide or else we will pay too much for cards like in the mid 90's where we pay 3x the book value.. These days we get most of the cards from overseas at a low 10-50%BV... Which make it more possible for us to be involve in this forum...
Here is my opinion. If you really want a card then you will buy it right? And if you really, really want that particular card with too excessive postage compare to other sellers, you will stiil buy it, right? I think I said this at least 3 times here...
(I just want to calm down some people who felt getting ripped off)
This is why we are here... To help each other understand things and make our hobby more enjoyable...
But if you really can't take that high postage they charge then don't buy it and just forget about it.
The reason why we buy from the US or Asia is because the cards we want don't normally shows up here. So if I want a card so bad and the postage is $5US, I just lower my max bid by $2US so if I win the card I can think that I still got it cheaper. I know it hurts when we see 80-90 cents stamp on the envelope but the seller gets charge for Paypal fees, Ebay fees Twice, The time they spent in listing,
The time they spent in going to the post office. In a way we are paying them for this hidden service that most buyers don't see...
I am not saying that I don't mind that overseas seller charging too much for postage but if I have to buy it, then I will have to pay the postage he set.
