Have a bitch about petrol prices.

So when did this thread change from Chad's request for a Checklist to a bitch about petrol prices.

On the subject, don't blame me, I VOTED LABOUR!!!!

Don't get me wrong, the Libs have done a lot for the country, but at what expense??? All I see is them taking from those that need the most, and giving it to those that need the least. (Like tax cuts to those earning over $100k, but nothing for those earning under $35k).

Anyone know what they charge in yalata, SA?

Why do cons need fuel???

Unless they're all planning a prison break.

Not that they probably can't just walk straight out the font gate!!!

I hope that the government decides to spend a fair bit of the expected multi billion dollar surplus that will be announced when the budget is released tomorrow night!:smt019 Maybe a cut in the fuel excise is on the cards??? I doubt it though.

I guess they will have to put a bit of the cash away considering the countries assets are like my ever diminishing personal card collection.......not much left to sell.

But as usual, the government can't see the wood through the trucking fee's can it! (an AWB joke there)

Cheers
Matt

You got more chance of someone sending you a case of Exquisite, and then pulling all the MOJO cards produced, than the government doing anything to help the battler.

Where do you think there surplus is coming from???
Why did we go in to Iraq, when this was supposed to make petrol cheaper???
Why are the tax brackets unchanged, even though they said they were gonna increase them after they introduced the GST???

LOL your not wrong there Clarkey.......

I have started car pooling since petrol went aboue $1.10.....it helps !!!

Why bitch that much? Plenty of other countries are paying out of the arse more than we. Go live in Germany and the UK for a while then come back. You will love our prices. Oil aint going to get cheaper in the future ;-)

Also, if the government were serious about reducing smoking & drinking health problems, they would ban the products.

But they are making billions from the excises & taxes, that it's just cheaper to throw money on adverts and health support.

Not when the excise is linked to CPI and then GST is calculated on top of that, just so they can get you to pay even more.

But I do realise we are fortunate, price wise for Petrol.

guess its my turn to bitch lol In Auckland the petrol is something like $1.70 *mutters* *curses* :) On top of that the public transport is virtually non existent.. hardly any buses, trains or the like at all so everyone is stuck driving their cars! *mutters* *curses* now I will go back to narking on about petrol to myself :)

Oooohh, and no suprises that there is no relief for low-income earners (battlers) in the budget. Got to earn at leat $50k before the govt may be able to help ya.

Here is a different point of view on the petrol prices. I love it because:

1. My car holds 40L a tank and I do a tank in a week. Every 20c increase = $8 extra a week, or $416 a year. Luckily I have some saving in oil producing companies on the share market... where on a good day, I can make the $416 back in a day.

2. I understand not everyone has shares, but oil prices going up means less inflation pressure becuase people's money is going to petrol rather than clothes etc. Lower inflation means lower interest rate and for those like me who has a mortgage, a GREAT thing...

Look on the bright side i say

What about us DINK's pumping money into the economy????

At least they gave us a true tax cut this time (not just a deferral of when you actually pay your tax).

And Marty, you'll find that oil prices is indexed with CPI (inflation), so when inflation goes up, oil prices go up.

clarke, not the lastest price rises... it was more like Bush threatening to bomb Iran...

I can understand the standard rise with CPI.. but these last few months... all Bush... if a humble accountant like me can make a little bit of money.. can you imagine how much Bush would have made ???

I do mortgages for a living and unfortunatley the rates went up last week and i have heard rumours that they may be expecting another rate rise by the end of the year  . In saying that the rates are still quite low compared to those of the 80's. If your looking to to fix your loan Suncorp currently have the best 3 year fixed loan on the market....6.74%

It has made the last week of my life shithouse...people wanting to fix/restructure their loans etc....driving me crazy!!!#-o

does anyone here keep track on how much they spend on pretol per month?/week/ etc....here it is about $1,43.9 and its driving me nuts....spent more than $200 last month on petrol....does anyone have a system or a spreadsheet they use to track petrol like i have?
