General concensus: GU is dead. So what of the hobby?

What a good read, wish there were photos as ebay links have long expired...There are some decent threads at the back of this section
Wonder what the feelings are now, with UD out of the game and Panini in the market flooding it with autos and 1/1's... Seems only the late 90's GU is holding strong...

Cards will always go up and down, depending on "how many" collectors go after certain cards.
In time, 99.9% of collectors give up on things and move along to the next "fad" or "product" that they like and get their hands on.
So, the gold of yesterday, isn't so shiny anymore.
