Freo v St Kilda

HA - I told you Fremantle should have won and it seems the AFL agree. The AFL have awarded them the win - OMG

I didn't think they would either but it was the right decision (IMHO) and I hate Freo !!!

This from Footygoss.com.au
The Fremantle Dockers have been awarded the four Premiership points for the controversial match against St Kilda on Sunday.

The AFL commission has today decided Fremantle will receive the the four points and St Kilda will lose the two Premiership points they were awarded for the draw.

i perfer this decision and it is the right decision.
freo suck and they wont make the 8, st kida are now level with the dees.
A draw could of fuked everyone up.
goodwork AFL Commisson =D>

All sports betting agency aren't going to like this one! They have all already paid out the draw because the AFL said it would stand!
Oh, oh!

Nah it doesn't matter, all bets stand, just like racing they get faxed a signed "winners" list 25 minutes after the game (From the AFL) and pay out acordingly. If a horse is disqualified after the race has been paid out the result (For the TAB) stands so the pay out will remain the same.

The only people to lose here were those who backed freo with Sportstab or Betfair, cause they were aligned with the afl they paid on the draw only. The big darwin based bookmakers and Simon Beasly paid on both the draw for those who backed St Kilda and for the win on those who backed freo=D>

This is ****ED. I will tell you why - if the AFL can decide the rules do not count for Fremantle.... why didn't the deduct Dean Solomon's goal against Hawthorn last year in the early rounds, replace with a point and thus award Hawthorn victory?

Teh AFL just set a dangerous precedent.... broke their own rules.

I want Hawthorn awarded the win v Essendon last year now.

This decision is bullshit.

You are spot on there AJ. Now eveytime there is a close game that is decided by a goal or less, by rights the losing team could challenge something throughout the game....and WIN.

This was a poor decision and it is obvious that the AFL will soon be without complete human element....which is ABSOLUTE BULLSHIT!!!!

Glad I'm not the only one that sees the issue with this. How do you justify a controversial loss to fans anymore? Now they set this preceent.... AFL fans will rise in arms if their team does not receive the same treatment when a goal umpire screws up....

It was okay when the rules were for everyone, but they are not for everyone anymore.

There's been nothing like this for 100 years and I'm tipping as a result of this it won't happen again for another 100 years. This farce will force the AFL to bring in some technology to reduce the risk of similar occurances. (An electic shock in the umpires watch is what I thinking...when the siren goes....ZAP!!! Their arms would go up so quick!!)

Just as a side note, the most recent time the commission has had to rule on the outcome of a game was the 1996 Rnd 10 Essendon vs St Kilda blackout game on a Sat night. When the lights went out with 5 min to go in the 3rd qtr, Essendon were 20 pts up. There was talk of awarding the 4 points Ess because they were in front, call the game a draw because it never finished, replay the entire game or just the portion affected by the blackout.
They ended up going back on the Tuesday night....Essendon made 5 changes to their side!!! The Bombers wound up winning by 22pts.
