Footscray - Western Bulldogs card collector

Now that's funny. My daughter can't wait to be a big sister, so she says. I keep telling her things are going to be different, she doesn't understand it all yet.

I keep telling myself that my team will get there 1 day, but then reality kicks in. My team hasn't played in a grand final in my life time. That's all I want now is to play in 1 :). I don't care if we win, just want to play in 1.

It's good that your team has played in 1 recently, didn't they play Melbourne Storm ? At least you can say you have seen your team play in 1 & win 1 in your life =D>.

Only my wife thinks collecting is expensive. She thinks the money could be better spent elsewhere. However when asked what ...... nothing but silence.

The whole family are members of the Western Bulldogs. I have only missed 1 game in Victoria in 8 years. Round 1 this year due to surgery. I was on my way to the game when the pain got to much to deal with. Team lost by close to 100 points.

Getting signed cards is easier if you go to training sessions than games, so I've found anyway. Most of the players have more time at training sessions and their not to unhappy because they lost a game. So during school holidays I take a day off and take my daughter to a training session or 3. However it is very time consuming, very. It does make it a lot more interesting :woot:.

Thanks Tim

Hey Tim :)

My daughter said the same thing that she couldnt wait till her baby sis or bro arrived .... I started changing things before my youngest was born .... Things like the older 2 walking to and from school and being a little independant etc .... Well as soon as that started her behaviour dropped dramatically so that I was heavily preggas and with odema to boot and had to start walking all the way down 16 stairs and driving to the school nearly daily :( So no until things start changing she want understand :(

Well I hope your team does make it one day :) ... My team won 4 grandfinals in the 80s I was lucky enough to be around for them :) .... Yep in their latest grandfinal we were up against the Storm but the Storm won .... Not long after that Storm got into alot of trouble over their salary cap so the win was removed from them ....

Wow all bar 1 game in 8yrs is very impressive :) .... I havent been to a game since the 80s :( .....

Yep thats true they would be alot happier if they just trained as apposed to coming out of a game if they had just lost :) Thats a good idea to take your daughter you can more players willing to sign for kids :) Does she like goung to training and games ????

Cheers Shell :)

Hi Shell,

My daughter has already stepped up her game :) occasionally . Being an only child for so long has made it a little difficult. However every so often she goes out of her way to help =D>. We only live around the corner from school, so little miss independent has been walking to school for some time, we still follow & watch :cautious:.

My team will get there one day, I only hope I'm still alive to see it ! Didn't your team get awarded the win after the salary cap thing ? Being a big AFL town Victorians weren't happy they cheated  I know I wasn't. But you can bet your bottom dollar they aren't the only ones doing it. They just got caught. I wish my team had Parramatta's record. Did support the Balmain Tigers for a while  , then they merged  . No more Balmain, no one left to support. Then there was the NQ Crushers :D, they folded . So I gave up on rugby league, I can't stand the Maroon's, oops I mean the Bronco's. Well I can't stand the Maroon's either.

I lived in Qld for 20yrs from the 80's to 2002. Not a lot of AFL up there. Didn't miss my team playing in Qld either  , but one game a year . That's why I haven't missed one if I could get there . For us though it's a marathon to get to games. It takes 2hrs to get there, so you have to leave early so nothing makes you late. We normally get to a game about 60-90 minutes early. Then there is the 3hrs for the game, if we lose it makes the 2hr trip home feel a lot worse. So all in all it takes a day to watch a live game of football :D.

Most of the players know me on sight , some try to avoid me . Especially when you want more than 1 card signed. I got a lot of question about why they were signing 2 the same  . I've been doing it alone for to long, it's a good thing that the daughter wants to get her own signed now =D>. I still got weird looks for a while. Now however things are a little different, recently had a train with the team day which the whole family went too. The daughter trained with the team & we followed her around the ground as she did. The players that recognized me ask what I was doing there, I told them & then pointed to my pregnant wife & said now I have to get 3 sets signed . Some laughed, bastards.

She does love going to games most of the time. When we have to get up early on cold miserable days...But doesn't get to all the games I do. She has to go to school so she can't go to Sunday afterafternoon games. Stupid idiots at the afl changed the Sunday times to suit TV. Now we have Sunday twilight games, starting at 3.15 & 4.40pm. Idiots.

But the card collecting goes on Eternity on the 6th August. Going to be fun, 3 of everything. Holy chit. It's going to cost a fortune, only 1 signature card x3 to get though. No special signature cards, as usual.

Thanks Tim
