Flawless - the straw that broke the camel's back.

Everyone takes what they want out of the hobby. I will hunt down my Miami Heat autos, Alonzo Mourning cards and Ed Davis. Do I care Flawless is out? Yeah! Looks like an amazing product and I will sit back with popcorn watching the secondary market dictate the prices. I am never in the market for a $300 box let alone $1500. This product has nothing to do with my personal collecting taste and would never dictate what I think about my cards I have in my PC and on personal display. Saying that flawless makes you "done with it" is like saying you're done with Miranda Kerr when you're dating her. It should never occur.

For $3k a case i'd expect Panini to throw in a date with Ms Kerr.

These cards arent even that great. The jumbo patches are nice, but really remind me of the old Ultimate Jumbo patches wich was like one per box at $200?
The rest? Same players, same autos, same white backgrounds.

I would have rather have them invest in getting top players (Ewing,Miller,Duncan,Barkley,Iverson,Rose,Garnett,Carmelo and probably a lot more that im forgetting here).

The only reason these boxes are so expensive are the diamond and emerald gimmick. These stone embedded cards are just stupid (imo), its has nothing to do with sports or the athletes.

And what also bugs me is that the 13-14 preseason has already started, and when the new 13-14 regular season starts were still waiting for 12-13 Immaculate.

Couldn't agree more, I have little interest in flawless. Nice patches but lame design & a gimmicky point of difference.

I jokingly embedded diamonds into my "future panini release" photoshop job a few months back. It was a complete joke.. and now it's actually happened.

Tell the truth, you are just upset that you did not trade mark the idea and are now missing out on all of that revenue:kick:

Also any collector that is worried about a new release lessening the value of an auto that they have of a player is not a true collector but rather an investor

I beg to differ. I collect Faried and generally accept the price offered to me 99% of the time. However a middle range RPA was selling $400-500 at the release of NT. with flawless & immaculate approaching I saw that same quality patch end for a meer $130 today. I'm sorry but I'd cry if something I spent so much on depreciated in value that much in such a short period of time.

Card prices are always higher when a product first comes out and are usually overpriced and then settle down. As there does not appear to be any true RPA?s in flawless that sale price may have been because the seller did not ship overseas ( I may be wrong on that, just a guess)

Not meaning to hijack the post, but I understand they will drop somewhat but 75% in the space of a month is pretty huge. A two Colour patch is now $70 down from $180 a month ago and as I said, a three Colour $130 (int shipping was available).

Anyway, panini suck.

Just a few days to go... breaks should be interesting to watch!

I decided not to preorder a case of this stuff thanks to the diamonds & emeralds gimmick capped with a laughable preview video (really, for the most expensive bball release ever it was just a big slap to the face for collectors). Now I've just got a couple of spots in a GB and that's enough for me... bring on Immaculate!!!

Agree with Daniel in that bringing out higher end products tends to de-value their former releases.

And I'm sure we can all agree that their redemption waits are a flapping load of sh1t. Should be petitioning them, in a threat to boycott their products?

When the flap will UD get their NBA jersey licensing back?

this is the reason i collect of product like fleer and ud............... i do like the certified and some others panini has made but i wont bo going near this product , i agree it is killing off the hobby , but thats what make it even more fun when i wake up in the morn and find my self another name plate from fleer on a card forum and ebay. while this insane priced product is taking all the attention im going about by business getting more real , well made pc cards..............thanks panini

Exquisite was no different, it didn't kill lower-end product (in fact lower-end product from 03-04 is worth more than come current high-end product).

I think if you don't raise the bar then you fail in business. That said, Immaculate would've been a high enough raise this year for mine.

Flawless, jury is out, but for what its worth... Each case will deliver a high-end on-card Kyrie, Kobe, Kevin and 4 super Patches along with 14 odd on-card autos from a bumper checklist. I cant see that being worth less than $2k. Therefore I see it as a case which delivers a minimum 2/3 return on investment, which I think is good for the hobby.

I like the Emerald and Diamond look. No different than the 14k gold pieces and Solid Gold - don't remember any negative feedback on that apart from gold pieces being too thin.

IMO the base cards look very average for such an expensive product and no gimicky diamond or emerald can make me think otherwise.

The giant patch cards, whilst having ridiculously nice patches, have a silly window shape. And then, because of the patch size, the picture of the player has been pushed to the top of the card so much that the top of their heads are cut-off (not all).

Thats abysmal card design IMO.
