That's it - i'm done.

I'm out of the hobby.

$2,995 USD for a 2 box case that is guaranteed to yield an on card auto of a decent player.

Panini are milking us for everything we have and telling us what their latest piece of cardboard is worth. They could literally release anything, stamp it with 1/1, put it in a nice box and someone will pay $3k for it.

This hobby is not enjoyable anymore, and it's not feasible anymore.

Panini have killed the hobby for me by making it a competition of personal income rather than a hobby for true fans of the sport, and true collectors.

My whole collection is for sale (minus the Jordan rookie, what I see as a truly valuable card) if anyone is interested. I'm going to sell the lot and buy something with some actual value, or go on a holiday or something.

I'm out.

I agree with you to an extent, BUT....no one is forcing you to buy these cards.

Sure we would all love to bust a case of them but I know personally no matter how nice they look or how rare they are, Cases arent within my budget so im not going to bust one. There is one specific card ive seen that id like to pick up....its numbered to #/20 but aside from that im steering clear.

Good luck to those that are busting....im sure it will be a wild ride.

Cheers
Matt

the fact that a product like this even exists is cheapening our current collections. Let's say I have a nice Kyrie auto right now. PRetty soon it will be seen as a b grade auto because this magical $10k 1/1 flawless auto is out there. Perceived value will probably go down as a result.

I don't think you are far off the mark with your view on their latest product. It is kind of funny that they believe a product that does not offer the 2 biggest auto's in collecting (MJ & LBJ) but can sell it for even more than exquisite collection.

Still releasing products that offer signatures of players that collectors are still waiting for via redemption is just wrong on so many levels and a real slap in the face of the larger collecting community :(

PS, are you still heading to the trade day ?

I see it if you have a nice Kyrie auto now, its still a nice Kyrie auto. I think a lot of people (not saying this is your case) are upset because they went out bought the best possible auto of a player at the time (NT) and then have found that there are 2 higher end sets coming out. It seems the people who are "investing" are the ones screaming the loudest.

I picked up a nice Larry Bird on card auto from NT. Its a great card and do I care that there is 2 supposedly higher end sets coming out? Nope I got a really nice on card auto of a player I admire at a decent price.

Cheers

I agree with the point of view of the endless number of parallels and autos, but personally even as a player collector I just stay away from those products. You shouldn't let it drive you away from the hobby, just don't support the product!

Add another straw.
REDEMPTIONS!!!!!!!!
3 emails to panini, 2 emails to David sharp the CSM. 4 twitter messages.

Can you guess what communication I got back?????

Zero, Nada, zilch, nothing.

Absolute joke of a company.

Don't give me the "it's the player's fault for not signing" or not returning the stickers. Because I'm not angry at not getting the exact card, I'm angry because they choose not to respond to continuous questions or comments over the last month.

Panini's redemption setup is a farce, total shambles.

This is beyond the joke and to rub salt right into the wound they constantly release "new" products with players Auto's that I and many others still have outstanding redemptions for.

This, my cardboard friends, is for one reason and one reason only.

MONEY!

None of this is new though, Upper Deck was exactly the same.

Sorry to be pedantic, but for Flawless all material is game used and all signatures are on card.

Cheers
Matt

Yes I know. Just had this saved and thought it was fitting, panini are incredibly greedy and no doubt this is their Christmas party or something!

I must have been one of the lucky collectors but I never recall having multiple redemptions in a box when busting UD or topps products

One of them was Carlos boozer select stars, where they released the prime version but not the regular. Where's the logic in that.

It would be nice to see a collector boycott of the product (but this won't happen). Spot on that, along with the 8000000000565.1 releases, it cheapens the hobby and will allow them to start putting sticker autos and crappy event used mem in $200-400 dollar boxes (instead of the lower stuff that it used to belong in). They are shifting the quality expectations. Before you know it people are saying "WOW, I have a 1 in 20 chance of getting an on-card auto /200 of a one time all-star in a $600 box - that's soooo cheap"! I'll just start spending my money on old PC chases though.

I also believe that the redemption and customer service issues are an even bigger concern. I have low end autos that I loooooove because of the design and player (and I know I will never trade/sell); however, the ever increasing number of redemptions, ignoring of endless contact for MONTHS to YEARS after redeeming and seeing constant auto roll outs of players that you continue to wait on is a blight on the hobby. No excuses, it's false advertising (doesn't matter if other companies do it or not). The fact that some people defend this shows us how sad the situation is

Anyhow, back to my new fave - leaf metal  Still love bball, still love my cards :hearts:
