What can I say....

First game back, and I'm feeling good about it. I should comment again in the morning, I'm sure things will have changed.

Had a decent game, we won by 21, I didnt score much (I'm not a scorer). Had 2x 3-point plays, but jipped the first so it was only 2 points, and drawing the foul (which he later fouled out).

I feel a blister coming on on my right foot. I think it's the shoes I wear. Gonna check the Bay in a week or so, and get another pair.

Highlight of the night for me... 5 blocks. (2 strips, and 3 rejections).

That also brings me to a question... is a strip a block if you stop them from shooting when they're on the drive? I mean it's not knocking the ball away, and just being out, or a turnover/steal, if they're on the way up, ball about chest hight, and you strip their shot, it's a block yeah??

Anyways, thought I'd share my first game back....

Yeah me either.

Um, yeah probably about half a dozen or so nothing fancy.

Sat out equivilent of 1 Quarter. We have 6 guys so we try to rotate. Sometimes people just don't want to sit tho.

I think it's a block.. as if your opponent attempted to shoot the ball to score..chest hight is pretty questionable, if the ball is on the eye level, i am sure definitely block.. :)

I'd call it a steal, mate, but a couple of steals is always a good return, especially if the opponent is on their way to the basket

Yeah, I would feel a steal is better than a block, as its a change of possession, where a block can still be rebounded by the offense. Although nothing intimidates more than a swat into the stands!

Cheers

Tech foul for you!

I personally love doing a big rejection, but the vast majority of the guys i play with in my team try to do it every time, and usually they either get blown past or end up fouling someone attempting a 15 footer baseline jumper; sometimes its better to get in their face and make them nail it over your defense, or pressure them into trying a bad shot.

Scotty, I'm pretty confident that a strip is a block. If they aren't shooting than it's definately not a block. On the drive when they aren't in shooting motion yet it's a steal.

You answered your own question. If you 'strip' them of the ball when they are going up.

And you should always strip up not down. Stripping down always gives a better chance of a foul and less of creating a clean turnover.

I like your weekend training regime ;-)

Farout it was heavy! I can't believe I actually drank myself sober, then pissed agian after we left you guys...

So it's a strip, not a block?

So it's really nothing, other than knocking the ball loose?

I did have the 3 clean blocks that was great!

if you do it cleanly enough and have "control" of the ball taking it off of the player, pretty sure it's a steal on the box score.

Yes, if you gain possession then its a steal for you, and a turnover for the person losing the ball.

If you strip the ball, and say its goes out of bounds off you then there are no steals or turnovers assigned. If you stripped the ball, and it went out of bounds, but say off the other guys foot, then it is just a turnover against the guy losing the ball.

Ha! Some of us have been forced to settle for the strip/steal for a number of years now.

Yep, the elevation is slightly less impressive than it once was. :(

thanks for that, wasn't entirely sure champ.

i gotta say a huge block (blocking it out of bounds), now that's a huge play. it gives you time to be like.. "HOOORAHHH!!".. just make sure you don't get a technical.

i had 3 huge blocks my last game, felt great, apart from the overall loss. :S
