Feeling dejected and need an e hug

Too bad. Move on. There more out there for you to get!

Another will come out and it will not go for such a ridiculous price, the you'll be the one laughing!

Ersk

Unless it is 1 of 1 or some ridonkulous low numbered insert- it doesn't really matter. For me, the whole missing out on a card does the opposite thing -it adds to fun in chasing that dream / next killer card.
Makes you appreciate more when you finally got one in your hand- that slippery lil' sucker:wave:

For people who wipe their bottom with money - sure they can drop an insane amount of money in a blink, however the aftermath ... "yeah mate, just chucked couple Gs on another Logoman ..no biggie here" ;)

That's good news!

As i mentioned before though, i would have a bit of a bad taste in my mouth as the bidding activity seemed a little odd

Sorry to hear, i hate it when some cards just seem to rocket up like that.
The next question is whether the other bidder actually pays or not?
Maybe you'll get a second chance offer?
Although if the bidder made a mistake at the death and helped expose your large safety bid (which is $400 more than the next person) getting a second chance at that offer would be infuriating.

Looking at the bid history - http://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&_trksid=p2047675.l2565&rt=nc&item=291003124372

It was interesting that the ultimate winner seemed to put a bid on 5 minutes before at 310 and then 5 minutes later, right at the death, puts in +$880
That seems a bit odd and looks likely the bidder could've made a mistake right at the end? Typed an 8 first instead of a 5

Given the discrepancy between what the you bid and the next person below bid (ie about half of what the total ended up- $450) some kind of average or even just 1 bid increment above the next bidder would seem more appropriate.
I wonder what a subsequent auction price would be?

although with these rarer cards, ultimately you're generally happy to pay what you could be a max/worst case and then be happy to get the card. At least i am. I think i'd prefer overpaying and have the card than think i may have underpaid and lost an opportunity. Although to lose the card when you strongly believe you already overpaid can be an empty feeling as well!

Hope it works out.

It is starting to sound like this guy knew he had an eager bidder and is trying to take you for a bit of a joy ride. Good luck with it Nick

I've gotten a few items from that seller before. I don't think they've necessarily done anything dodgy themselves. It would just be good to know the reason as to why the other bidder may not be paying and that if they don't - i think a fairer price is one bid increment above the next highest bidder. ie about $450

I will retract my statement if he accepts Nicks highest bid. It still seems like a handy way of finding out what Nicks reserve was ;)

Yeah I'm with you on the seller not intentionally doing anything shady.

This is the way things went down after the auction so you guys can see what's happened.

I contacted the auction winner to ask if he was a Payton collector which he said he was, we talked a little and I sent him a link to my PC website as he said he wanted to see if he had any gloves I didn't have so we could trade or I could buy some things I don't have (if he had any) then next day (today) I get the 2nd chance offer.
I find it strange that right after I show him my collection he backed out of the deal.

Honestly, id not accept that second chance offer....call their bluff....it will be back up on ebay in days. Trust me on this one!

Maybe he was just starting a payton pc, then realised you already have most of the rarer ones... so he has given up now! ;p
Or he now considers you're the rightful owner

Hey Nick,

How did you manage to get the winning bidders info??

Looking at history of the bids, I was the 6th highest bidder lol :ermm:

It's a secret :p
You can only see the winning bidder, just do an advanced search on your eBay id on completed items you've bid on and voila!

Where there's smoke there's usually fire mate. It's a bummer, such a sick card.

I'm tempted to crack open a few of these boxes just to try and land one!!

Is give ya an e hug but you'd just try and take advantage of me you dirty ol perv!!! Hahahahah

Shady or not, just another reason I'm out of cards, just too much going on all the time with bidders and sellers....

Thought you'd be all over the new auction. Just go in at a lesser amount then you originally intended and if you will you'll be stoked and if you get a 2nd chance offer you'll still be stoked!
