Sorry to hear, i hate it when some cards just seem to rocket up like that.
The next question is whether the other bidder actually pays or not?
Maybe you'll get a second chance offer?
Although if the bidder made a mistake at the death and helped expose your large safety bid (which is $400 more than the next person) getting a second chance at that offer would be infuriating.
Looking at the bid history - http://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&_trksid=p2047675.l2565&rt=nc&item=291003124372
It was interesting that the ultimate winner seemed to put a bid on 5 minutes before at 310 and then 5 minutes later, right at the death, puts in +$880
That seems a bit odd and looks likely the bidder could've made a mistake right at the end? Typed an 8 first instead of a 5
It is starting to sound like this guy knew he had an eager bidder and is trying to take you for a bit of a joy ride. Good luck with it Nick
I will retract my statement if he accepts Nicks highest bid. It still seems like a handy way of finding out what Nicks reserve wasI've gotten a few items from that seller before. I don't think they've necessarily done anything dodgy themselves. It would just be good to know the reason as to why the other bidder may not be paying and that if they don't - i think a fairer price is one bid increment above the next highest bidder. ie about $450

Yeah I'm with you on the seller not intentionally doing anything shady.
This is the way things went down after the auction so you guys can see what's happened.
I contacted the auction winner to ask if he was a Payton collector which he said he was, we talked a little and I sent him a link to my PC website as he said he wanted to see if he had any gloves I didn't have so we could trade or I could buy some things I don't have (if he had any) then next day (today) I get the 2nd chance offer.
I find it strange that right after I show him my collection he backed out of the deal.

Oh believe me, I have no intention of accepting itHonestly, id not accept that second chance offer....call their bluff....it will be back up on ebay in days. Trust me on this one!
Hey Nick,
How did you manage to get the winning bidders info??
Looking at history of the bids, I was the 6th highest bidder lol
Yeah spotted it yesterday, after everything that went down last time I don't think I'm even going to bid.The card is back up for auction?
