ESPN Top 500 NBA Player Rankings

Why don't we do a top 100 NBA current players based on current form. Input from the top 90 oct members.

Or (I did this on a sports fourm), we do a fanstry draft. 30 members, keep drafting until 10 rounds and then we sim the results in a 82 game season + playoffs in NBA 2K12?

No way Deron is top 10 and Dirk not! Crazy talk!

Ummmmm......... Dirk is 5th! ;)

Um, deservedly so!

Deron is more deserving for 9th than KG is for 22nd IMHO.

Winning a title is about the team not the player.

This season Melo averaged:

25.6ppg, 7.3rpg and 45% fg.

Dirk averaged:

23.0ppg, 7.0rpg and 51% fg.

Take in also, that Melo had a mid-season trade, so it would of been harder for him to keep his numbers consistent because he didn't have time to get used to the new players, new gameplans etc.

Dirk has been on the same team for his career, so much easier for him to work in the offense.

*Shakes head* You seriously aren't playing the stats card are you dude!?

Yes, winning a title is about the team, however Dirk was a MASSIVE part of that team and I highly doubt they'd of won the title with anyone else replacing him.

I was responding to DW8 saying Dirk wasn't top 10 worthy.

KG was a 15 & 9 guy this season with a PER of 20.67
Dirk was 23 & 7 PER 23.52
Deron was 20 & 10 apg PER 21.19

Fine line to rank all these players but even though it's not supposed to happen, I agree theres some amount of lifeTime achievement points in there. Deron had good stats actually, shocked me, I think I let the fact I don't like him get in the way a bit but I still don't say top 10 player in the league IMO

KG's still a good player and all and still a defensive pest, but overall I just thought he was a bit high, especially considering the season LA had.

Lastly..... let's also not forget last season Deron played with a busted up wrist for quite some time.

Just looked at these again for the first time since the 60s were announced, and a few things annoy me about this list:

1) As the page loads, it starts from the lower rank and scrolls down to the higher. This should be reversed, so that it counts down. I was continually loading the page, going to the bottom and then scrolling back up so that it would count down to the better rank >:/

2) Durant ended up number 6.

3) KG was not ranked number two.

4) Durant was not ranked #1.

Okay, so three out of these four gripes are serious, you figure it out...

Haha I was doing the EXACT same thing with the page. :p

Yeah but you know what I'm saying, I haven't even heard of over half those people and plus it's an average of all. In a perfect world you would have one all knowing person who could accurately rank players in the NBA and their would be no disputing it. With 90 people chosen from a very knowledgable base of NBA writers worldwide you're always going to have people who feel shunned.

---------- Post added 21-10-2011 at 08:37 AM ----------

But thanks for the list!

---------- Post added 21-10-2011 at 08:44 AM ----------

Actually in their world most of those people might matter a bit more to them than us BUT you had Curry being shocked at his ranking and Iguodala too and Marquis Daniels wanting a recount, it becomes a joke. It's a fine line when someone is ranked 49th and someone 20th even since stats and impact are hard to compare between teams and positions etc.

All for the sake of conversation I suppose
