Select's series one usually looked crap, look at those cartoon cards they have in afl this year!
ESP can definitely improve on their card design, but with 18 sig cards this release totally destroys anything Select has ever released for a series one.
There just seems to be no value in opening packets at all. From that video odds of getting anything at all other than commons seem very slim. I enjoy opening packets/boxes but I think i'll just buy the cards I want from this series.

I see your point but I enjoy breaking packs and boxes so much I tend to not worry about getting my money back. The only set I was ever tentative in buying multiple packets of were the ESP rep series due to the price per packet and lack of mid range inserts.
On a side note I think I will put together a set of the chart toppers and maybe the retirees and anything else I get will be a huge bonus!
I agree with many of the points above. Liking the retirement cards, will be making up a set or two and putting them away. The ratios are tough, but there is no comparison to a Select product, so its time to stop comparing and move forward.
I can't imagine how many loose packs I'll have to churn through to get a signature card, and I'm only interested in the Josh Jackson.
So should I just fork out the $$$ and let somebody else do the work. Probably not likely to fill the insert sets that way, and I'm pretty keen to bust packets.
What a dilemma!!!!!
I won't decide for sure until I get 'em in a folder and see what they look like.

i take your point although, the way i see it is, that the powerplay set in april is the shit set that we will be comparing to select champions (series 1) and not these NRL TRADER Cards.
i got a feeling we could see some left field select champions designs coming through in that set
That Sux...local junior signed to a contract which was too big to start with....I think they should cap young players salaries like the NFL...I'll bet his $ are too much ....
