ESP NRL Traders 2013 Sneak Peak UPDATED WITH NEW IMAGE

im annoyed that you think this looks like a select design.

selects designs usually look decent.
(inb4 someone links a gem card)

nah but seriously the designs are so plain. the layout of the set looks similar but card design wise the differences are huge

Select's series one usually looked crap, look at those cartoon cards they have in afl this year!

ESP can definitely improve on their card design, but with 18 sig cards this release totally destroys anything Select has ever released for a series one.

There just seems to be no value in opening packets at all. From that video odds of getting anything at all other than commons seem very slim. I enjoy opening packets/boxes but I think i'll just buy the cards I want from this series.

Im with you, i think this looks like a very good set indeed.

What turns a lot of people off is the ratios.

One things for sure there will be little to no case searching as with most of the select cases which had 1 high end per case. New ball game here

I see your point but I enjoy breaking packs and boxes so much I tend to not worry about getting my money back. The only set I was ever tentative in buying multiple packets of were the ESP rep series due to the price per packet and lack of mid range inserts.

On a side note I think I will put together a set of the chart toppers and maybe the retirees and anything else I get will be a huge bonus!

I agree with many of the points above. Liking the retirement cards, will be making up a set or two and putting them away. The ratios are tough, but there is no comparison to a Select product, so its time to stop comparing and move forward.

I can't imagine how many loose packs I'll have to churn through to get a signature card, and I'm only interested in the Josh Jackson.

So should I just fork out the $$$ and let somebody else do the work. Probably not likely to fill the insert sets that way, and I'm pretty keen to bust packets.

What a dilemma!!!!!

I won't decide for sure until I get 'em in a folder and see what they look like.

i take your point although, the way i see it is, that the powerplay set in april is the shit set that we will be comparing to select champions (series 1) and not these NRL TRADER Cards.

i got a feeling we could see some left field select champions designs coming through in that set

I think Powerplay will be more similar to the set we see in the Daily telegraph / Courier each year (as far as design/look etc)

Anybody seen the paper advertising them yet? Aren't they usually out about this time?

I noticed the worst thing about this set in that video is that I now have to add a Sharks card to my Raiders PC thanks to the Colin Best card :p

Haha. I'd agree if they were 1:36 or 1:72 as originally stated. For $10 very happy to have a Best in my collection though - memories of 2008!

Glad there wasn't a Phil Graham - quite hard done by to miss out though considering his 76 career tries.
