I'm getting a box after being left with a bad taste in my mouth after ESP LE and only getting into the hobby with my son with 2012 Champions. I have bought boxes of Champions, Dynasty and LE.

I'm a little concerned that this new release won't live up to the excitement of Dynasty and with no real interest in a team collection anymore (the bro in law moved from the Titans to Manly and now I don't know who to collect) I must admit I'm wondering why I'm bothering. I guess the young fella will enjoy the return of footy cards and it's an expensive way of tackling the base set but what do you do.

After getting towelled up by the LE set, I'll just be happy to beat the odds this time around!

Part of what your paying for in a box purchase is the fun of busting it. Your paying for that experience as part of the box price.

I think people need to realise that on average your not going to get a great return from buying boxes if your just out to make your money back on them. Sure Dynasty might not fit in with that theory however you need to remember that Select had a big interest in making sure that product sold quickly.

Even with Dynasty you would struggle to make money back on a box that didn't have a redemption/BLL.

I like that there is not a guaranteed case hit - it should reduce the number of boxes from searched cases for sale on eBay. I'm all for supporting local dealers, but minimising case searching is a big win for the consumer in my mind.

I think collectors worry too much about making money back, its not why I collect. I collect for the joy of busting packs, boxes or a case, I collect because I am a completest and I collect just because I can. If I was always worried about making money back I would not give away so much stuff..................lol, I mean who in their right mind gives away a TP #002 or a Bulldogs Captain Sig Redemption from 2009 Classic............oh that's right...................ME

I entirely get that. I could buy a base set for a handful of dollars but there is no fun in that. I'm not in this caper as an investment or to pull enough out of a box to fund purchasing the next one. The excitement for me comes from the quality of the cards- something Dynasty got right and the ESP Rep set got so wrong in my opinion.

2- Dogs cards are amongst the more expensive (I wish it wasn't the case, but it is) because they are one of the most popular teams (market research has decided this, not any individual). Broncos, Saints, Parra, Tigers, Storm because of their marquee players, and the list descends to clubs that very few people support. I will not mention them because I will be vilified by their fans and it's not me, it's the researchers fault.

I am kind of glad the Raiders are not in that top 'echelon' of popular clubs!! It makes alot easier to put my PC together and alot better on the hip pocket!

Sharks are now an expensive team to collect......Thanks to a certain person.
If we get a high end auto this year, It will get crazy.

Well in terms of members numbers for last year Broncos were well in front with around 26,000, Rabbitohs, Dragons, Knights were around 20,000, Storm had 14,500 and the Bulldogs had 13,500. Then many clubs aren't far behind the Bulldogs around 10,000 members...and then there's the Panthers and Titans with around 6000 hahaha.

I share your enthusiasm!! Although...... I think I am the only one here who collects cowboys..... Which is great for me......

I often get PM's from people trying to get rid of cowboys cards.... Which I think is just awesome!!

Guess again!! But yeah, we have it sweet. I'm starting to feel about sick about all the Shaun Johnson TPs I bought after watching how much the Warriors improved when Godinet came on yesterday!
