ESP Elite 2015 Official Thread (Sell Sheet Page 44)

.....
I don't know maybe I am way off with pricing, obviously the market will decide that once the release hits, but I'm just feeling a bit confused on the comments around a team set for this series costing thousands....

I collect cowboys in threes. Always have. Even by your numbers, which I think are on the low side, I'd still be out a few $$$.

Last year the cowboys had 4 WCHP. Which are limited to 80. They sell around $90-120 each. I purchased three of each cowboy. So I was down $1200 before touching anything else.

Last year.
WCHP/80
League sensations /130
Young guns/130

This year they have individually numbered cards. Which is a huge difference when seeing a value.

All star /100
Young guns/
Parallel /40
Quads/65
Jersey sig/50
Jersey/150

Thats 7 high end (2 quads) if you're "lucky enough" to get a jersey card.

Of course I could collect just one of each cowboy card. But after 20 years of collecting three, it's a stretch to convince me not to!

Don't get me wrong. I'm excited about the release. At $5 a 36 pack box, I'd be the happiest mofo in the world. At the new prices, I think ESP are dreaming that's an acceptable "raise".

With this release, it seems that ESP are pushing towards more of a "US sports card" format. Parallels galore, big numbers on insert sets, jersey cards etc.
Yes, some big hits to be had but a lot of junk to sift through and an impossible task putting sets together.
And traditionally, set building is what most NRL collectors are about.
With Elite 2015 your odds are that the bang is going to be huge for a very small minority and the rest will feel quite understandably vexed.

I'm with the previous few comments, I will be getting into the set a little as I saved all year. Having said that, my savings don't cover what I expected and I had to skip traders to put it towards elite, have been holding out for ages. I love the hobbie and don't want to let go but the price rises and and extra 2/300 cards in a set is getting way out of hand. Not sure about next year already, growing trends would suggest this could be close to the last for me.

I'm starting to wonder if I am under valuing some of these cards, I mean I have had a look through and apart from the Jersey Signatures, which, depending on the players, I expect to be in the 5-600+ mark, I really dont see where everyone thinks the really expensive cards are going to be.

Now, I will preface this with the fact that I was out of the game the last year or 2 and have no idea how the market has perceived ESP card value, so my guesses could be way out... however, this is where I currently sit with average values of a collector that wants a full team set:

1x Complete base Set $15
9x Parrallel $1ea = $9
9x Parrallel Gold $2ea = $18
5x Elite Pennants $3ea = $15
2x 2014 Club Champions $5ea = $10
2x Young Guns $20ea = $40
2x Elite Quads $50 ea = $100
1x Young Gun Signatures $50
1x Ltd Edition MOJO Team Set $250 (this seems high to me, but a few people above seemed to agree around this)

Which including the MOJO is $507 total, without $257, of course this assumes the jerseys / all stars don't have anyone from your club.

Lets say a Rabbitohs set and assume 1 player in all of the higher end cards (obviously there might be more or less, but without names its hard to judge), and also a higher value on the low end cards due to the

1x Complete base Set $15
9x Parrallel $2ea = $18
9x Parrallel Gold $4ea = $36
5x Elite Pennants $7ea = $35
2x 2014 Club Champions $10ea = $20
2x Young Guns $40ea = $80
2x Elite Quads $60 ea = $120
1x Young Gun Signatures $70
1x Ltd Edition MOJO Team Set $300
1x Road to Final Jersey $250
1x Road to Final Jersey Signature $600
1x All Stars / Indigenous 2015 $150
1x Case Card $60

Total being $1754, $1154 without the Sig jersey.

Those prices seem wayyy too cheap to me, but I'll take all the Knights cards you have if you're selling them at that price. :P

I count 81 cards limited to 130 or less (if you count each mojo team set as one card), just seems like too much and would have to effect prices because there is only so much each collector can afford.

Will be interesting to see if the look of the cards stacks up to the increased pricing.

I think it will be very interesting to see how may MOJO sets stay as a complete set as there will be quite a few people who only want particular players and not the whole team ....

Likewise the Eels.

I think some of those prices will be reflective of what you may see down the track - given the depreciation that we have become accustomed to. However, the parallel team sets/sets will be interesting.

240 packs in a case - normal parallels are 1 in 2 packs thus only 120 of these in a case. This is well short of a full set, especially if there are a few doubles thrown in. I can't see these going for $9 a team set initially. Ditto for the special parallels that are twice as scarce.

Time will tell. Hopefully, there are no inserts in the release mirroring the quality of the FOTG cards.

I think the Club Champion cards may be more in line with the Pride & Passion subset.

Agreed.

I may be hard pressed securing a complete Eels Mojo Set if someone decides to snaffle all the Chrissy Sandows...

Warren, I have spoken to a few people high up since traders came out about the disgust of some many bloody parallels and why we are so sick of them.
They said that would change.
Low and behold, here we are again, more bloody parallels.
Just goes to show, they are not listening and just want to stuff it all up, just like Dynamic did back in the day, keep all the other cards and piss them off I say.

By the sounds we are going to have 3 sets of parallel cards.

Standard, gold and the mojo pack parallels. That's going to be 4 of essentially the same card with same pics

No, no, no...the NRL only employ photographers that use those fancy cameras that take 50 frames per milli-second... I am sure that all 4 cards will be illustrative of different frames...they will be 100% unique.

And by the way, I am just about to put up a Case Break for shares in the Sydney Harbour Bridge...
