I was just watching two auctions as they went down to 0 seconds I was leading bidder.... but the page refreshes to tell me I didn't win BUT YET IT TICKED down to zero with my bid THE HIGHEST.
I think Ebay should prevent people form bidding with a sniper... IF that sniper can somehow usurp the winning bid like I had... as far as I would think if it says 0 seconds I am the winner... not some stupid sniper bot
But I am sure eBay loves the sniper programs, it pushes up their bottom line. I know a lot of people like these programs and I can understand a fair use.... but when you get sniped after the auction is over, you might see my way of thinking.
Bid as high as your prepared to pay, simple rule... i expect to get sniped every auction i bid on. If the Price is too good to be true, you gunna get sniped!
It could also be your browser... Mine shows me leading all the way down, then it refreshes and I was actually outbid with about 7 seconds left... (that's just an example). I use a sniper on ones I really want, or that end during work time because the net here is notoriously rubbish right when it needs to perform...
there is one Golden rule when it comes to buying...whoever has the gold makes the rules...shoulda bid more in the first instance, sorry that's just the way it is

wasn't complaining I got beat.... Was complaining that I was winning at 0 secs.... and still got beat - that's what I think is BS.... but I'm going to go with what the guy before you said and figure it was just that.

I had a bid the other night 6 seconds to go I hit the confirm bid button with what would have been a winning bid only to be told bidding had ended....NOT HAPPY JAN....
sorry to hear mate, something must of stuffed up to have that happen. I hated those snipers too, then I remember starting a thread on here asking what the best sniper tool was? I joined them and don't feel bad at all

Apart from sniping tools, you have to also remember about internet lag.
For those of us that game online will know all about this.
Actual timer count and what you see on your browser will be different.
Well how quickly would it have taken you to put a bid in even if it said you were losing with 1 second left? Gotta put in your highest bid and you might of had a better chance

I have also seen a bid (snipe I assume) placed at the exact ending time of an auction. Not really sure how it was able to happen but if they're willing to take chances like that it's just really bad luck to lose a bid like that...
The 0 seconds left means nothing.
1) The clock is just a close approximation.
2) Even if you had been winning with 1 second left, you wouldn't have been able to resend your bid in time manually as there is a slight lag, depending on the browser and internet connection.
3) If you had placed your highest possible bid and it was above his bid, the snipe wouldn't have beat yours plain and simple.
Could have been that your counter was lagged, ive watched an auction on three different computers once and one was 3-4 seconds behind had to refresh and still it would start to lag.
