There is laws about deceiving people in the states, this is one of those cases where someone was so blatantly deceived that its not even funny. As for if the show pays for stuff, my father when he was alive had a case against someone and when he sued someone in court, Judge judy's crew asked him to drop it and come on the show. My father said NO, however at the time they didn't pay for anything except airfare to the taping. Now this was 10 or so years ago, so not sure what they are doing now, however it would have been funny as hell as who my father sued was so guilty even his wife turned on him and gave supporting evidence in court against her hubby. But like the Judge said, how can you make yourself look so stupid in front of 10 million people. LOL

yeah the show pays what ever the outcome is, as long as the 2 agree to drop there case, so the mother got 5K but the scammer paid $0
