Does this warrant a Neg?

I've had some good trades on here and so far all have gone great and I've recieved the cards within a few days but recently I had a trade with a member on here that I'm a bit bitter over. I went out of my way to send the cards the very next day as I was told mine would be on their way too. After a few days I was told they hadn't been sent but would be by the end of the week, then again and again. It is now 3 WEEKS and I still have not recieved my cards however I've been told they have now definitely been sent.

I'm really not happy about this, if it was going to be a few days fair enough but thats just not good enough. Especially when they've been posting box breaks etc. They have quite a high rating and I feel like I'd be interrupting the good vibe of this board.

If you're not prepared to give a negative in a situation like that there is no point of having a feedback system at all IMO.

probably best to try and work something out with this person, some compromise maybe. if they are adamant that they sent the cards, and they have the high FB on their side, maybe a 50% refund or something where both sides dont get screwed? if theyre not willing to budge though, then neg and name and shame.

Hmm i had a situation like this a few months back i didnt end up leaving a neg after being convinced by a few people not to, but i do agree, whats the point of the feedback system if its not used?

The Feedback system is there to show exactly how deals went. If it was a deal was in a negative fashion then a neg should be given, if you feel nuetral about the whole deal leave that, if happy with the outcome then leave a positive.

Being a longterm member with high feedback shouldnt mean that you can be lax with shipping or other matters and then flame noobs for the same thing when they do it.

I'm sure a neg will hurt their feedback rep a lot less too especially if you get the cards etc.

Feedback is there to tell a story and as a guide to others looking to trade with members and wanting a RELIABLE account of how trades are conducted.

If you are unhappy with the way the deal went then you should leave a neg. I positive shouldn't be given just because you received the cards but because the terms of the deal were met in a timely and well packaged way.

I've now had 2 other members PM me asking if it was a certain member as they have had the same problem....

well if there are problems there should be negs to show for it rather than members having to ask ;-)

i think a nuetral at best is warranted otherwise this member will continue to work this way

As you have said a couple of days after you'd probably forgive pretty easily as things do popup. 3 weeks is pretty poor, considering the person has been regularly online. Personally I think you should just give the person whatever feedback you feel is correct. If you are unhappy about a trade you should let everyone know about it in your feedback. I've learn't this the hard way, by trying to be soft on people but it gets you nowhere. They end up doing the same thing over and over.

I've been slow myself in posting stuff out sometimes up to a week late, and to be honest, I'd just forgotten. Sometimes you put something out to be taken in the morning, and just walk straight out the door.

But after 3 weeks of reminders, the cards should have been in the mail.

I'd hate to be in the other traders shoes, as it's pretty much going to take a community's decision for them to get the Neg.

Sure sometimes you just need to ask, but I think PMs might be better, as it kinda looks like a Tribal Council......

I'm really not sure how to respond to this. I'm very sorry they couldn't be sent out in a more timely fashion. I really have felt pretty burnt out from my new job, which between training and paid working hours, i did 70 hours in my first 8 days. Yes, I was "active" on the forum at times, with what little downtime I had, posting a few comments here, and a small break there. But I certainly wasn't going around setting up new trades when i had other trades still pending.

Frankly I just felt totally burnt out, this being the first work I'd done since having left school in 2000. I'm sad to see the neg given, as otherwise this has been a very positive, rewarding and empowering time in my life. Most of all I never had the intention of screwing anyone over. I never have and I never will.

Fair enough proto, i know how ya feel. i just started a new job and i understand the stress.

However, that doesn't justify treating fellow members in a less than professional manner. We all have stresses and other stuff occupying our time, but thats life...excuses are cheap and plentiful.

Anyway, not trying to vilify you. id just take the neg on the chin and move on. lesson learned.

I would be less than impressed to have the cards not arrive after 3 weeks, but seeing as the member in question has apologised, we should be able to look past this blemish and i personally know this would never enter my considerations in persuing a trade with Proto

With a feedback score of 56 Proto that negs shows how that deal went not the integrity of yourself as a member. Feedback is there to tell the story about deals and then its up to members to see if they want to trade with people. I'm sure this wont effect your trades too much and like JZA said just take it on the chin and move on. I think we all know how you feel about work but maybe just be a little better prepared seeing you trade so much here. Buy a few bubble mailers and a sheet of $1 stamps. That way it takes 5 mins to pack up some cards and mail them on the way to work coz they are next to the PC for ya. :-D

Anyway OZ in the end did the right thing as he wasn't happy with the deal.

i don't want to appear as if i'm making excuses. but i've got plenty of toploaders and bubble mailers, however the card i was to send him was oversized and thus required cardboard of a high integrity to protect it properly, and finding something suitable of this nature around the house wasn't a quickly completed task. i'm sure if i'd had more time on my hands this all wouldve gone alot faster and smoother.

i'd also like to point out that i wasn't making this trade specifically to help my PC, i initiated the trade in order to help the member in question with what they were chasing. the fact that i received a card back for my PC was a nice bonus for helping him out, but it didn't really outweigh the nearly $4 i paid in postage for the oversized item.

i'm not saying that the delay in my posting is okay, but i know in my heart that i sent the cards promised to him as soon as I could, as I also did to a couple of other members waiting on cards. I just can't help but feel a little soured myself, as I enjoy helping other collectors with their player/set collections, often going to great lengths to search, sort and list extensively for the benefit of those not purely interested in "high-end".

personally i'm not too worried about when cards get to me, because i feel safe at Ozcards knowing that other members have integrity. one particular trade currently pending has seen me sent all the cards owed to me, bar one, which was accidentally replaced with another. i have not as yet sent out my end of the trade, instead communicating with the member a desire to complete another trade involving the 2 cards that have been switched around (ie. card A, which i traded for and haven't as yet received & card B, which i received and plan to trade for). i'm not worried that there was a genuine mistake in what the other member sent me, and he doesn't seem worried that he'll be waiting to receive the cards for both trade 1 & 2, until the terms of trade 2 are complete (which admittedly has been long delayed, due to personal circumstances on both our parts).

in all honesty i wanted to give oz-antoine some sort of bonus for having to wait but unfortunately i had no other antoine walker's he needed, and only other card of interest to him wouldve been my bobby hurley RC refractor which is apart of my very special 93/94 finest refractor collection. if there was something else i could think to offer i would have, and frankly i'm a little hurt it all came to this

I'd also like to note that as i was working all night shifts, going to the post office (as i needed to determine the cost of posting the oversized package) was also a hurdle in this particular trade, since i was sleeping the majority of opening hours.

anyway, ive probably said enough #-o

I now feel like the bad guy in this situation but I left feedback on how I thought the transaction went. I too had to go to the post office and it was actually during my Uni exam week so I was pretty stressed myself. I'm sure people won't not deal with you over 1 neg but at least I know in my mind I did the right thing.

And that's how it should be.

A Feedback System is something that tells other people how YOUR trade(s) went. If you got the raw end of the stick, you say you did. If you got a good dealings, you say you did.

It's not like Ebay here, where they leave feedback in retaliation.

I'm sure Ryan has 50+ solid transactions on this site, there was just one incident where things didnt run smoothly.

So be it.
