Does anyone else feel ripped off by SELECT?

OK, heard a couple of interesting things today about our two most recent card releases.........firstly

2009 Champions - everyone should be aware that the John Sutton JDC card was a print error, it was advised that the whole production run was printed in error for that card so select were providing dealers / resellers with free replacement cards or you could write to them directly to get one. What's interesting is that 2009 Champions have apparently been reprinted and more cases released, I know this because non-error john sutton cards are appearing in packets that are available in newsagents.........the only explanation - new stock means a second print run which means more GEMS and SKETCHES etc out there which devalues the card price.....................?????

2009 Classic - In the box I opened yesterday I pulled a card from a packet that was just blank card stock, this also happens with the JDC cards as well. Select informed one business that the 'computer' required a certain number of cards to be made and the blanks were inserted to make up the numbers.....Hold on I say.......I am paying 150 - 170 bucks a box for a total of so many cards in a packet.....I am not paying money for blank card stock.


Just another way to screw the little guy trying to collect his cards and it sucks........will climb off my soap box now.

I find that very hard to believe, select would not be silly enough to say such a thing...

Doesnt surprise me about the blank card though, have heard this happen a few times...

My question to you is, have you contacted select to try and resolve your problem, im sure they will be more than helpful if you ask them....

This was the response given to a dealer who contacted Select about the issue of blank cards in packets......now I don't know anything about their processes to ensure fair distribution of inserts IAW their policies therefore I can't say whether that blank card took the place of an insert or a base card......??
 
well it would be hard to judge exactly what you were missing, unless you were an insert short from the box, Ie (NO predictor) or unless you were one card short of a full common set, hard to say really... was it in an insert position or just a random spot???

I received the full base set and inserts, that is not the point I made with Select, the packet guarantees 8 premium cards + 1 holo jersey die cut card NOT 8 cards + a piece of card stock.

I also know that packets have contained the 8 premium cards + 1 piece of JDC blank card stock.......this is NOT fair to the consumer cause they are not paying for blank cardboard............

Will let you know what the response is I get from Select.

That is shocking by Select on both counts. You have every right to feel ripped off.
 
You have every right to be upset if a blank card of any sort ends up in a pack and it's not an accident. If the whole reprint thing for the cheaper set is true it will be the last time i bother buying them.

Di is away for another 2 weeks, so i dont like your chances until then.... If it was just a JDC missing/blank they will send you some replacements, have already heard of this happening this year....
 
Clearly the Champions series is a never-ending supply. Cases are still available through Select.
I can confirm the correction of the Sutton JDC. Not only did they reprint a correct verion but they have tried to overcompensate for the initial error by increasing the amount of Sutton JDC cards in a box/case.
My first 4 cases purchased had the error card and on opening a case you would receive two complete JDC sets plus some extras.
In the 2 cases from the 2nd run i ended up with about 12 Sutton JDC cards and as a result did not get two complete JDC sets in each case.
Also only got 1 Double Trouble in one of the cases but they have the "This ratio is not guaranteed to exist within individual boxes or cases" line to cover for those mistakes.
 
I KNOW people who have baught CASE's of Select Pinnacle and Classic and have not received a signature redemption card!!!!!
Together there were 5 cases (Afl+Nrl) with missing Captain Signature cards. How dirty is that?
 
There was also someone that pulled two Captains in a case... that is poor form by Select considering some arent even getting one
 
hahah oh my god, 2 cap sigs in the 1 case, that is so cool.
I hope my 2 boxes of classic come with 2 different cap sig redemptions.( heres hoping)

yeh but back to the main thread topic about select not having there act together.

Agreed that yes it would devalue the rare cards( making them not as rare) so why would select do such a thing?

Does that mean these 1/50 captain signature redemptions are gunna be reprinted as well?? or more double troubles when the supplies dry up??

thatd be pretty silly, do they still print old rugby league cardsa anyone know?
 
This is the response I received from Select late this afternoon.

'The blank card shouldn't be in the box and should have been taken off when the sheets were slit and collated. The problem arises because we print 100 cards on sheet 1. and 95 cards on sheet 2 leaving 5 blanks which are meant to pulled out at the slitting process'

so it is a problem they were aware off, by way of making me feel better they offered to send me a card..........which card should I choose..........hmmmmmmmmm
 
why not ask for a CS tak they can only say no,I have tried to get some of the damaged jerseys replaced this week,I know when Di is there there is no worries replacing damaged or misprint cards but as she is away I had to send them in for Robbie to look at,but it is a major stuff up on selects end getting a blank card and in the premium set too, and I have found the proper Sutton JDC's in packs so I guess they have done a reprint as a matter of fact my local newsagent was surprised he could get more champions in.Good luck Tak,I'd wait till Di gets back youll have no problems then.
 
I think that because they have indicated it was a common card that was missing (100 cards on the first sheet and 95 cards on the second...totaling the 195 card base set) that they are offering you a common card....hardly worth the trouble i'd say.

I am not going to chase any freebies on this cause I still ended with the complete base set out of the box, its just Select will never know if people are peeved about their stuff ups if no one tells them.............lol
