Yep,Know all about it.Have the same problem in both knees.I was very active in Tennis(played comp)/Basketball(played comp)/squash(Comp)/Motocross & Dirt bike riding(just for fun & fitness) & also worked part time for my dad from the age of 10.I'm almost 51 & can hardly walk sometimes now,My knees are just worn out & keep slipping in & out of joint all the time.Got to be carefull how i walk & try & avoid croutching or twisting my legs at all times.Doesn't help having a left knee opp from bike riding & being shot in the left knee/leg when i was 14.Not much fun thats for sure.

I've been relatively lucky with injuries/health problems knock on wood.
I do have some seriously hardcore ankle cracking going on though these days. Worse when getting moving after extended time not standing or walking around

LOL,OK.Well back in those days i had 2 rifles,I used to going hunting in my lunch break when working in the bush with my dad.But one day after school i went over to a mates place who lived on a farm because they had a major mice/rat problem.Well he was not as safe with guns as i was.A hollow point .22 bullet skimmed off a sheet of tin & spilt in twne small peice entered just under my knee cap between the cap & knee joint & the other main peice of the bullet entered the left side just above my knee & didn't quite exit the inside of leg of left leg.

On crutchs for 6 months but did manage to recover in about 12 months later.The doctors said i'd probably have a limp but after heaps of painfull training i got myself right again,Enough to return to sport.
This happened 2 weeks before i was to play a rep under 17 US school boy squad that came over from the states.I was still 14 & had a very bright tennis future at the time.All i ever wanted was to play pro tennis & this was a very big event for me as there where major tennis scouts from US & here watching.
Although i did recover enough to play high grade tennis again but knew my pro dreams were over becuase i didn't think my knee would be good enough to get to the highest level (No1 or nothing i used to think).

Still hurts to think back to that.Oh well,Life went on LOL.

I had the same problem because I played a lot of sport and when I was not playing like off-seasons, weekdays etc.. I wasn't stretching my knees enough, like sitting on a chair with your chin resting on your knee caps or not taking walks, jogs and runs everyday. That would be a reason why you will hear random clicks in your legs, and eventually will cause pain to your leg when you run usually between your shin and your knee cap. If you still play sport, sure ... you think to yourself you can play with a bit of pain but it will only get worse when you try to sit down and get up. I took 4 weeks off basketball which was really irritating and did some leg muscle workouts to get my legs back in shape, see I'm only 15 (14 when it happened) and you can still get minor to major injuries like these. Lucky for me, I acted as fast as I could and I never get to a point where I just couldn't walk anymore. With the leg muscle workouts, after you do those the pain should go away but you need to go straight into running again so the pains don't comeback in the near future. And when you are reading a book, playing a video game or watching tv, make sure you always have your legs stretched out and not cramped against your chest and/or chin, or you'll start to have de ja vu (get a similar injury). Hope this helps, remember, if you do take the muscle exercise it will get better gradually every day but still very slowwwwwwwwwwwly, like I said .. take a month off
Thanks to these tips I successfully made the 1st's in REP and was ready just in time to play in Adelaide, scored 49 points in 3 games, and made the finals after that ... not going to tell you the final result of the final game since I want this to be a happy ending ahaha!

Wow we are a bunch of broken down old men aren't we!!!!! My left knee locks when I sit on the floor in a certain position and make a large crunching noise when I try to get up. It is bloody sore too!!! I blame this on the fact that i am uncoordinated and can only jump off my left leg. I have a feeling one day I will be on the floor playing with the kids and my knee will simply pop out.

I play hockey and walk pretty much anywhere I need to on my lunch breaks... however lately I've been having a swollen feeling in my right knee. It only tends to linger for a few days, however this week still feels like it did after Saturday's game, which is unusual. I'm a bit concerned. Feels kinda like there might be some fluid in it and I've noticed that when I walk I tend to stamp my front leg (the right one) kinda hard. Gutted if it's something serious.

Yeh the doc said it was too late. My knees kind off bend outwards a little bit, same with my lower leg which probably made me 2-3 cm shorter , visible if you see me in tight jeans but otherwise on the basketball court you can't tell

I NEVER look forward to knee reconstructions! They are extremely painful!

That said, the LARS recon is less intrusive than a traditional recon so hopefully it will be less painful!

I should have put it in my last post but all through my teens and on the odd occasion now my knees will just lock as i walk which is quite painful and makes you look a comlete gumby. Not as bad now though thankfully.

Yeah I walk around permanently with Achilles Endositis, old army injury that has come back to haunt me. Every time I walk it feels like my left heel is going to rip. Bascially inflammation and pulling away from the heel. When I was injured with it originally Army thought I just hasd an ankle sprain and made me jog on it for 3-4 weeks and climb stairs before realising something isn't right here and sent me for checks.

6 months later it heeled but not after about 12 steriod injections and orthodics and adjusted shoes and military boots. Hit the 30 now and only feel its going to get worse about to go and see my army case manager and see about surgery.

Feel for all you guys going through long term injuries where it restricts your life in some form/way.

Haha! Yeah, tell me about it! And the topic ALWAYS comes up as the weather gets colder, doesn't it??? Tell ya what, got woken up this morning by my dog barking: swung my legs off the bed and bent my knees to get up! *CRACK*!!! Happens nearly every damn morning too, now. I do garden bags for a living, which gets me out of bed around 5am most mornings, NOOOOTTT a fun time to be hobbling around with bad knees!
