Yeah, I must say, I love the myth that continually gets trotted out on here that the NRL chooses what players get put on the cards.

Everything I've ever read from Select and the NRL has said that they approve which players get selected (by Select haha) and that they approve everything.

The only time I've read the NRL not approving something, was apparently Select wanted to do jersey patches for this year's Dynasty set, but the NRL said no. I'm guessing because the licence was changing hands and they didn't want to take the gloss off the ESP release? Total guess though.

Yeah I think that jersey thing was total b.s. My thinking would be why would they bother going to the trouble of jersey cards when we buy whatever release they put out anyway.

As for player payments I have no idea. I thought they were negotiated through player agents separately.

I believe the agents handle it all. One player I spoke to about it this year didn't know anything about it one week, and then the next week he approached and told me that he had done them. Gave me the impression his manager just handed them to him and said sign these, we're getting paid for it!!

I grew up with Jarryd Hayne,s Mum Jodie, she told me how much Jarryd got for signing his redemptions after what he manager took. An amount that will remain untold by me. He donated the whole lot to charity.

Lets be conservative At 400 dollars a card there was 100 of them thats $40000 in selects coffers what percentage would it be worth for you as a star rugby league player

Top prospect I would think gets $5 - $10 per card. Bigger stars for redemptions maybe $20 - $30.

I base that guess on what Topps pays MLB players.

I dont know myself but the signature on the select cards must not be allowed to be sign again on other cards it must be in their contractual agreements. As I have thousands of signed cards myself which I have done in person. I would have to say the amount would be dealt through there mangers as they would get a cut. Then players get a cutof that. Select sold at whole sale price per pack which would have been about $3.50 to a distributor where they should pick up 20 to 25%. Which Had the redemptions in them and does not leave a lot of money Once they have paid for every signature card in the 2nd set. The money in redemptions would have to be selects no.1 cards.

If i was an Immortal / Superstar, i would ask for that at least, if they're going to make $40,000 because of me, then $10,000 is reasonable...
If i was a rookie / avearge 1st grader, then thats a different story..

So Moz are you saying my guess is ovrrs or unders?

I'm mean I cant see some of these nobody top prospects getting paid more than a few bucks for each card.

Either why we are just guessing. Corey would probably be the man to put this question to.

I dont know about the tps you could be close there but under with the redemptions

when shane rodney gave me his back in 2003, it was $2 a car i think

All top prospect cards are a gamble a lot of young players play well in there first year as other players and coaching staff do not know there game plays. Untill this is worked out they play well. Some players get better some get injured some get worked out over the next few seasons. If they continue to play well there card goes up if they dont there card does not as we know. It took 5 yrs for Paul Gallen,s future force to hit a high in the market. With any signature card if the player falls into a slump the card is depreciated. That is why Darren Lockyer and the immortals will never loose there value over time.

The 2008 Centenary Immortal signature cards are certainly depreciating in value going on recent sales prices.

The players agreements with their clubs is for $10 a signature on any formal signings ( not fan days but promotional merchandise), however I doubt the club holds up their end of the agreement.

Everything looses its value in a depression or recession. but not over time
