Well CHad doesnt like doing Maildays, and seeing as they got delivered to me, I thought i'd post them on his behalf. These are the results from our last PSA submission - quite an interesting batch of cards submitted. Heres the results :

Some 1909 Murads Cigs College Cards

Some other items, 1933 SPort Kings Nat Holman, Chads impressive 48 Topps Magic Photo of Ed Macauley, a 57 Topps of Jim Loscutoff, and a 52 Wheaties Hand Cut of George Mikan which PSA only gave an "authentic" grade to (they didnt actually give it a number.

And the big daddy of them all, a PSA 9 OC of a 61 Fleer Bill Russell IA which Chad picked up for $15 raw, and now graded could fetch in excess of $500 (if you could pry it out of Chads dying hands)

All i've got to say is ... nice cards!!! :worthy: :worthy: :worthy: :worthy: :worthy: :worthy: :worthy: :worthy:

Great cards Chad!

But Ive got to ask the question:
Why is the Russell a PSA 9 - the L/R centering is atrocious

It's great to see them all slabbed. Seeing them in hand is an amazing feat.

I mean, it's what, 97 years old... Most people don't live that long!

I love the photo one you're meant to lick/wet. That's awesome!

So is it good they didnt Grade the Mikan, or would you have preferred a Grade?

The Russell.... ummm..... A W E S O M E ! ! !

Fantastic work guys, great to see them back in home land, and in your hands.

Thanks for sharing.

The grade is a PSA 9 OC - the OC stands for Off Center. They are saying that the card not taking into account centering is a PSA 9. You find that a lot of olden day cards (and not so many newer ones) are graded with qualifiers.

From the PSA website :
QUALIFIERS:

PSA will grade nearly every card submitted. Cards having significant flaws will receive "qualified" grades as follows:

OC (Off Center):

When the centering of the card falls below the minimum standard for that grade will be designated "OC." PSA determines centering by comparing the measurements of the borders from left to right and top to bottom. The centering is designated as the percent of difference at the most off-center part of the card. A 5% leeway is given to the front centering minimum standards for cards which grade NM 7 or better. For example, a card which meets all of the other requirements for PSA MINT 9 and measures 60/40 off-center on the front automatically meets the PSA front centering standards for MINT 9. If a card meets all of the other requirements for PSA MINT 9 and measures 65/35 off-center on the front, it may be deemed to meet the PSA front centering standards for MINT 9 if the eye appeal of the card is good.

ST (Staining):

) Cards with staining below the minimum standards for the grade will be designated "ST."

PD (Print Defect):

Cards with significant printing defects will be designated "PD."

OF (Out of Focus):

Cards with focus below the minimum standards for the grade will be designated "OF."

MK (Marks):

Cards with writing, ink marks, pencil marks, etc. will be designated "MK."

MC (Miscut):

): Cards with a factory miscut, such as a diamond cut, or when another card's image is on the original card will be designated "MC."

You will see some of Chads other cards graded have qualifiers - a couple of the Murads have MK qualifiers.

those cards are amazing! i dont know what else to say but whoa!! thanks for shareing, its not every day you can see cards that old!

Great stuff Chad and thanks for posting them up Gman as well .

Question thou- are those cards loose in the slab and free to move as they are all at strange angles. You think they would set them so they would sit nice?

Congrats on the Russel 9 and the jimmy 5

Nice pickups chad, and cheers Graham for posting them up. I love seeing this vintage side of the hobby, its like a whole new world!

Wow, those are some amazing cards!! i really like those 1909 cigarette cards, they are sweet!!

thanks for sharing!

Great stuff Chad =D> =D>

Wow thats cool. Chad's house must look like a museum ;) It's like a mini history lesson, the Russell looks excellent. The info on the grading is interesting, thanks G.

Must admit I was a bit overjoyed with the psa 9. There are.............NO 10's in existance! NONE!

In all graded over the years and it being a 1961 release its (1 of ten 9's with a qualifier and 17 9's) Putting it up as one of the best Russells graded. That and the fact he only has THREE career cards makes it pretty good in my books  The KEY is that the 1961 is very very hard to find centered. They are famous for being cut badly and looking like that. so the fact it has an OC qualifier doesn't take away from it that much for most collectors. Remeber a lot that are busted pack fresh still get psa 7's and 8's. The fact that I got a raw one MEGA cheap and after all these years it got a 9 is mindblowing. Still honestly I don't think it deserves a 9 but I'll take it

Thought those murad psa 3's deserved even higher though and psa stuffed up marking them with a qualifier for a mark on the back when the came stamped like that. Someone at psa needs to do their homework ;)

The Mikan is a mystery too#-o They do grade them as I have a psa 5 Mikan 1952 wheaties already. The harder to get portrait version. They are hand cut so they don't grade real well but they do grade them. Money wasted on that one =D>

The others I expected a psa 1 as you know but the Loscutoff derserves a psa 6 compared to my other psa 5 1957 topps cards.

In all the 9 on the Russell makes up for it all though :D

Thanks for the comments guys. I guess some are new here and have't seen the sort of mailday I post up before. I'll post some interesting stuff over time when I have some.
