cards like that are very hard to put a value on as they very rarely come up for sale. there was only 100 of these and it was an international selling series i think so pretty rare.

The mafia list suggests $370 as a guide. Cardzone is selling for $420. Collector to collector remember the cliche "it is only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it".

if we are discussing a card can we post an image. I love to see what the cards actually look like....

Mamboblue72 this is a great idea for a thread....

It might be a cliche Ron, but it is spot on the money! Plus if it is a big item, you might also be able to trade some cards to lower the cash price...

So we have an "MV" on what the Mark Waugh PB picture card, signed card and signed 4up sheet is worth ($95, $370, $130) so out of curiosity I would like to know (hope this is allowed on this thread Dan LMK can remove) what a hand signed Mark Waugh PB picture card #182/500 would be worth to someone, because I know when I saw it listed I would have easily paid triple what I got it for... I guess what I am also getting at is, when it comes to limited cards like this one, does a personal signature detract or add to the value?

My own personal view is that the card is more valuable in it's original condition. Unsigned limited numbered inserts have an inherent value and collectability that you remove by having it signed. Original condition means exactly that.

I agree on the most part Ron, but I remember you posting the AB Elite XI card personally signed some time ago, (went and found the pic ), so from what you are saying, an unsigned Elite XI card is worth more than this signed one? In my opinion the signed one would be worth more than the measly $12-$15 that an unsigned one attracts...

Past sins come back to bite me. I have had a philosophical change of view. There was a time when I regarded both base and insert cards the same and sent both TTM to be signed. Now that I am seriously collecting inserts they will stay naked if they are numbered. Unsigned elite XI cards do sell quite well for an issue of 5000. I have a signed set except for Warne as well as an unsigned set. I guess in the end it comes down to the eye of the beholder.

I guess something like this particular item will be a great tester of this...;)

IAN CHAPPELL SIGNED 1994 FUTERA ELITE IX CRICKET CARD - eBay Signed Memorabilia, Memorabilia, Cricket, Sport. (end time 13-Aug-09 21:32:57 AEST)

Sorry Daz but just to clarify: the Futera cards of the 1990s were only sold in Australia - once Futera went bust in 1997 a lot of their cards ended up in the UK but they were never actively sold in packs or in boxes outside Australia. There were international players in the set, as with Scanlens, however neither Scanlens or Futera were never sold at retail overseas.

Also there have only been about 25 of the Gilchrist GU cards redeemed. This has been mentioned in previous threads but important to note when trying to acquire this card - Topps apparently refuse to redeem any more of them.

The 97 Warne showtime redemption card is a tough pull, but it seems that the high-end inserts like this one with no signature (ie "just a piece of cardboard!") tend to remain a little soft in the marketplace. Historically it has sold for around the $300-400 mark. If the card was also a signature card I am sure it would command somewhere around $800.

And if I can add my 2 cents in the "is a card worth more because it is signed" debate - I really think it depends on the card. For example if you went and got the Warne showtime redemption signed I actually think you are ruining the card because it is not the way it was released and is worth a lot as it is - for an Elite XI, which only sells for $5, then I would pay more for a signed version. Take your Waugh 1996 permier batsman card Liam - while it is signed, you are still looking for an unsigned one right? So I guess it doesn't make it worthwhile to get signed because you still want one the way it was originally intended??

100% agree now Brad! Base cards and the more common inserts are worth more signed, but the rare inserts are worth more just the way they are. And yes, I must admit I am looking for an unsigned one, I have even wondered and looked around trying to find some way of removing the signature without damaging the card

As for my non de plumes Ron, you don't know them all
